Martina: And???

Shelby: And he was wonderful about it like you and Liv told me. We’re engaged!

Martina: OMG!!! About freaking time! Congrats, chica!

Shelby: Thank you. When are you coming back? I miss you already.

Martina: I’m not sure. Has Graves asked about me?

“Shelby, are you okay in there?” Cade knocked on the door.

“Yes. I’ll be out in a minute.” I peed, brushed my teeth, and sent one more text to Martina.

Shelby: Gotta go. Be safe!

Martina: You too!

I exited the bathroom and climbed back into bed. “Good morning.”

“Morning baby. Feeling, okay?”

“I feel wonderful. Martina texted, and I didn’t want to wake you.”

He kissed my head and wrapped his arms around me. “How is she? Making sure you told me?”

“It should be a crime to always be right.” I giggled, putting my head on his warm, firm chest. I traced my finger along his inked arms and tingled down low.

Cade sighed contentedly. Then he kissed my neck, sending a shiver down my back.

“When do we need to leave?”

“Whenever we want.”

“Perfect.” I straddled his waist, took his morning erection into my hand, and lowered myself onto him until he was deep inside me. I hummed and arched my chest toward his mouth, tempting him to suck my nipple into his greedy mouth.

“You’re so gorgeous.” He fisted my breasts and took one into his hot mouth. The sensations he ignited in me forced my hips to move.

I rode him hard with my hands flat on his muscular abs to get us to the finished line quickly, since we needed to be at the clubhouse by noon. But I wished we could remain like this forever, worshiping and loving each other completely.

I burned every wonderful, delicious, and intoxicating moment we’d shared the last twenty-four hours into my memory.

The excitement for our baby, and our long-awaited engagement.

The future we desired to have together. We were finally on the same page.

Burntwood was my home, and Cade was my life. I didn’t need or want anything more.

When I imagined what Storm’s compound looked like, it wasn’t this. Yes, a tall fence with barbed wire at the top surrounded the property. It was like a private residential neighborhood, complete with a security gate. The grounds and buildings were maintained nicely, and there was a row of homes and a park with a fancy redwood playground.

“This is a lot nicer than I imagined. Do they deal in drugs or weapons?” I asked as Cade parked his truck.

“Why do you ask?”

“Just curious about how they earn money to provide for the members so nicely.”

“They own several businesses in town. Everyone has jobs, even some of the old ladies.” He avoided eye contact, which meant he wasn’t telling me everything.

“Really, the wives work?” That was reassuring. Not sure why I was so surprised.
