“Some of them do. When we go in, don’t ask too many questions about club business, okay?”

We stared at each other for a long second.

“Okay. I’ll be on my best behavior and keep my mouth under control.” I tended to be nosy and ask a million and one questions. He was probably afraid I’d embarrass him, but I wouldn’t.

“I’m not worried.” He winked, then opened the door, and came around to help me out.

I had researched a little, read romance novels with over-the-top heroes, but I needed first-hand experience. But I wasn’t super knowledgeable about motorcycle clubs.

The Knight’s Legion MC and Saint’s Outlaws MC had done illegal things. Same for the club Cade had been in, Hells Bells. So far, everyone I’d met had been decent, which was why I was eager to meet the women, theold ladies.

I was about to ask more questions, but kept them to myself when Storm and Hollywood exited the building.

“Glad you both could make it out here.” Storm shook hands with Cade and nodded at me. “Shelby, my Angel and the other women are inside waiting for you.”

“I’ve been looking forward to meeting them. Your compound is not at all what I expected. It’s very nice.”

Storm got the door for us. It was freezing outside, and nobody wanted to linger, surely not me.

“How’s Olivia?” Hollywood asked.

I smiled. “She’s good. Told me to tell ya hi if I saw you.”

“Yeah?” He grinned wide, seemingly happy my sister had thought about him.

“Mhm.”

“Tell her I said hi back.” His grin grew, if that was even possible. He turned down a hallway in a different direction Storm was taking us.

“Once we meet the ladies, I need to talk to Storm in private.” Cade’s voice was just above a whisper, and I felt the tension in his hand as he held it against my lower back.

“Is everything okay?” I’d sensed something might be bothering him after we checked out of the hotel. As far as I knew, we were good. We’d had phenomenal sex, then showered together. Maybe it had something to do with Jake and he was keeping it from me.

“There she is!” A woman rushed toward us. Whoa, she was gorgeous. Long brown hair, bright blue eyes, a smile that lit up the room. “Shelby, I am so happy to meet you. I’m Maddy, but you can call me Angel. I answer to both.” She hugged me like we were family.

“I prefer for you to call her Angel,” Storm said.

“Don’t listen to him.” Maddy waved him off. “You can call me whichever you like. How are you, Tomcat?” She refrained from hugging him and went by her husband.

I didn’t like his road name and what it had implied. He’d told me he wasn’t a manwhore, and had accepted the name his president, Keg, had given him. I thought he should have, because when his club thought he’d been out prowling around for pussy, he’d actually gone to check on his ranch.

“Good. And yourself?”

“Recovering from last night’s party. You missed all the fun,” she told me. “Let me introduce you to the other women.”

The blonde I’d seen at my parents’ anniversary party approached. “Happy New Year, Tomcat.” She gave him a quick hug.

“Back at ya, Ella. Where’s Rockson and your old man?” He put his arm around me and pulled me close.

I’d been right. She was his friend and had been more than that. I smiled, not to show my insecurities. She was very pretty and seemed nice and a lot younger than me. It took everything in me to fight images, waging war behind my eyes, of them naked together. Cade probably suffered with the same torture regarding me and Jake. God, I had so many regrets.

“Ice skating with some of the other kids. Lynx and Boxer are with them. They’ll be back in a little while.” She turned her attention to me.

“Introduce us,” I whispered.

“Right. Ella, this is Shelby, my fiancée.” He looked at me. “Ella is Rocky’s wife and Storm and Maddy’s sister-in-law.”

“I thought we were going to tell our parents first?” I elbowed his side.
