“Not yet, but I know he will soon, and we need to be prepared.” He kissed me, then took me into the room.

Storm and several of his members were seated at a long banquet table. The only one I recognized was Hollywood.

I sat in the chair Cade pulled out of for me. Storm’s intense gaze was on me. It felt like I was in trouble, like I was in the principal’s office.

“I see the fear in your eyes,” Storm said. “Fear is good. You’ll be alert and you’ll take what I tell you seriously, because you know what Jake is capable of, right?”

I nodded, squeezing Cade’s hand tightly in mine.

“Good. Men like him, billionaires with egos the size of Mars, believe they are unstoppable. They think because they’re rich, they can buy anything and anyone they want. They’re selfish, entitled pricks.”

I appreciated Storm’s directness.

“Got something,” a man behind a computer monitor said.

“Let us hear it,” Storm replied.

“I got a ping on her name with three different programs, the most commonly used ones. I’m confident he knows about her doctor appointment.”

“Which means he knows you’re in Burntwood.” Cade rubbed his thumb on the top of my hand to comfort me, but it didn’t help. I wanted to crawl into a hole and stay there forever.

“Cade tells me you won’t go on lockdown.” Storm stared at me. “It’s challenging to protect you if you come and go freely.”

“Someone will always be with her,” Cade said. “Graves has his full crew in town, and they’ll patrol.”

“I messed up going to the clinic?” I asked. “How am I supposed to get prenatal care if I don’t see a doctor?”

“I was an innocent mistake, baby. But until now, Jake probably thought you’d been taken by one of his enemies. He’s going to come out of hiding, and we need to be ready.”

“And I’ll send a crew with you.” Storm issued me a sharp nod. “And Grizzly will do what he does on the computer to track Jake. We’ll get him.”

“Get him before he hurts someone…like me or Cade?”

“We’ll do our best, but a man who feels threatened or cornered is the most unpredictable and dangerous. If he thinks the baby is his, he’ll burn down the world for his kid.”

I gulped. “How do you know that?”

“Because everyone of us in this room would do the same.”

“Oh, Jesus.”

Jake would come for me and the baby, and there very well could be casualties…

Found you…Bothof you.

I stared at the ultrasound image Elliot had given me of my child. It looked like a lima bean, but in a few short months, it would look like a baby—my baby.

I’d known my hacker would locate Shelby if she was alive. Her body hadn’t been found. There hadn’t been reports about her missing. She’d just vanished, and no one seemed to care. Which had been fucking suspicious. Her family loved her. They would’ve rallied the whole town, so I waited and my patience had paid off…

“All this time she’d been with her ex, as I suspected.”

“But we didn’t get a visual on her to confirm.”

“No. We didn’t.” I seethed, studying the image.
