That breaks me out of my shock more than Nox kneeling in front of me, staring into my eyes does. “No. They’ll kill you. It doesn’t matter if you’re doing it for me. Enzo, don’t come here. Stay there. You can’t. You’ve done all you can already. I won’t have your death on my hands!” I yell angrily into the phone.

Nox takes the phone out of my hand and puts it on speaker. I honestly am too terrified to even care that he’s blatantly invading my privacy. “Vivy. Calm down. I don’t know what has happened with your papa, but I can’t support this. He’s being an idiota3. Look, no matter what, I’ll be there tonight. I’ve got a job in Wisconsin today. I’ll stop by and we can talk. Maybe you can introduce me to your poliziotto.4” His voice is suggestive.

I glance at Nox, hoping he doesn’t understand Italian. “Non è mio.5”

Enzo chuckles. “Then why is his photo all over the walls of your closet, piccola ragazza6? Ain’t he, like, fifty or somethin’?” I can hear the sneer in his voice. “Can you say daddy issues?” He whispers the last part, and I think I’m blushing again.

I don’t fucking blush, dammit!

“He’s twenty-nine, and if you don’t shut up, I’m going to chop your dick off and shove it down your throat!”

“You know what they say, Vivy. When you want something done right, you do it yourself. Why should oral be any different?” He chuckles.

“Eww, Ithink I just puked in my mouth.” I gag for good measure.

Enzo laughs heartily before turning completely serious. “I’ll see you tonight. Nine at your dorm.”

My eyes widen. “No way. I have a roommate!” I hiss.

Enzo laughs. “She hasn’t figured out you’re a little cray-cray yet?”

I frown. “I prefer?—”

Enzo huffs, cutting me off, “Psychologically divergent. Yeah, yeah. I know.”

The corner of my lips lift and then fall when Nox says, “Meet him at our house.”

Enzo goes silent and I close my eyes, cursing Nox’s big fat mouth. “I’ll text you the address.”

He stays quiet for a long time. “Do I need to be there now?”

I wince. That’s Enzo speak forlet’s throw a murder party. I shake my head even though he can’t see me. “No. I’m safe… And just for the record, I’m glad you’ll be here.”

“See you then,” he says, and the call disconnects.

I shoot off a text with the guys’ address and instructions not to kill any of them.

I look up at Nox with wide eyes. “Dr. Price is going to be so pissed when he finds out what you just did.”

Nox holds his hands up. “What I did? I’m just trying to keep you safe.”

The overhead lights flick on and we both snap our heads toward the door, where he who shall not be named walks in. “You’re in so much trouble,” I whisper to Nox.

“I didn’t do anything wrong!” he hisses back at me.

A deep sigh leaves Dr. Price. “Why are you two conspiring in my classroom, in the dark, on the floor?” He quirks one pale brow at us.

I glance over at Nox. “So. Much. Trouble,” I whisper.

Nox rolls his eyes, getting to his feet. “Viviana got a phone call.” Oh, trying to pin the blame on me now, huh? Not today, Satan.

I honestly don’t feel bad as I hop to my feet, gritting my teeth against the fast movement and point at Nox accusingly. “He invited Enzo Carro over to your house tonight.”

Dr. Price’s mouth drops open and it would have normally been afunny sight if it wasn’t completely justified. I toss an I-told-you-so look over at Nox. “You did what?” he yells, slamming the door shut and glaring at him.

Nox folds his arms over his impressive chest and shrugs stubbornly. “He wanted to meet her at her dorm and something about meeting her poliziotto.7” He stumbles over the pronunciation.

I literally face-palm. “Is there a hole I can just crawl into, or will I need to dig my own?” I ask the universe, but the earth doesn’t split open under me. That could just be because we’re on the second floor.
