I grin at that. I would never admit it to Cain, but I honestly love Professor Bowing. He’s strict, but he never lets his emotions change how he treats his students and he provides better notes. “Bowing is great. I took his Intro to Sociology class last semester.”

“If he was so great, you would switch majors,” a voice says from behind me and I grin, turning my head to find Nox.

He places his hand on the back of my chair and sets his coffee on the table next to mine. “I’m not switching,” I tell him.

He pouts at me. “Fine, fine. Let Cain keep all the good students.”

“Oh, are you two dating?” Landon asks, scratching his neck.

Nox shakes his head. “No, we’re just friends,” he says quickly and I frown a bit, even though I already know he doesn’t feel that way about me. He turns to me. “I’m free Saturday if you would like to settle our bet.”

I grin. “You know Zane is totally going to stalk us, right?”

Nox scoffs. “He’s got a job this weekend, so he won’t be around to do it.”

There goes their elusive jobs again. I need to find out what the hell it is they do. They know practically everything about me, and I barely know anything about them. It’s really not fair. “What class do you have next?” I look up at Nox, wondering how much time he has between classes.

He grins down at me. “Well, I needed a fine arts class, so I decided to take drawing with you.”

A wide smile curves my lips. “Really? That’s great!” I glance over at Landon to find him frowning at us. I give him a polite smile and get to my feet. “It was nice meeting you. I’m going to head to class now.” I give him one last wave and head out of the cafe with Nox.

We get three steps out of the door before he starts to chuckle. “What’s so funny?” I ask, confused, because nothing funny has happened.

He glances over at my serious expression and just laughs more. “That guy was trying to flirt with you,” he tells me with a snicker.

I frown at him because that can’t be right. “He just sat down with me. He wasn’t flirting.”

Nox shakes his head. “He was so flirting. The first thing he asked when I walked over was if we’re dating.”

My mouth opens and I just stare at him as I try to understand. Then I just shake my head because it doesn’t really matter. There are already four guys I like. I can’t handle another one. Besides, something about Landon tells me it would break him if he ever stepped into my world. “Zane would kill him.” I shrug and start walking away to the arts and humanities building.

Nox jogs to keep up with me. “I mean, he wouldn’t actually kill him. He didn’t kill Sloane,” he tries to reason with me.

I quirk my brow at him. “Zane has known Sloane for a long time. You all are super close. He wouldn’t kill any of you. Maybe some light maiming, but he wouldn’t kill any of you. He doesn’t care about that guy. He would kill him.”

Nox falls back again but hurries back to my side once he’s had time to think. “And that doesn’t bother you?”

I shrug. “Why would it? I’d do the same.”

He chokes on air and grabs my elbow to turn me to face him. “Are you saying you’d kill a girl if she slept with Zane?”

I nod my head because that’s exactly what I’m saying. I’d kill anyone who touches what’s mine. Zane and Sloane fall into that category. With Nox and Cain, she may get away with permanent scaring and a warning that would turn her into a nun.

“Jesus Christ, you two are perfect for each other.” He blinks at me.

I smile. “Thanks!”

He shakes his head like it wasn’t actually a compliment, but follows me the rest of the way to the classroom. I didn’t think I would get to have a class with Nox since it’s his last semester. I’m really glad we get to do this together. We find a table toward the back of the room and take our seats. Nox grins at me just as the professor stands at the front of the classroom to get our attention.

Cain

After a long day of classes, I find myself back home. Parking behind Nox’s car, I head into the house. I find Nox and Zane in the kitchen. “Come on, just admit that you want to,” Zane demands, crossing his arms over his chest.

Nox scoffs, not even glancing over his shoulder at Zane as he starts to unload the dishwasher. “No.”

Zane narrows his eyes at him and leans his hip against the island. “I just wanted to let you know it’s fine if you want to. We talked about it and I said it was okay.”

Nox drops the cup he’s trying to put into the cabinet and jumps back when it shatters on the floor. He spins around to stare at Zane with his brows raised. “What?”
