When he shifts to try and unbutton my pants, I manage to pull an arm free. Before he has a chance to grab it, I slam my fist into his jaw. His head swings to the side and he swipes his thumb across his bottom lip and pulls it away to look at the blood smeared across it. A split in his lip trickles out blood as his eyes light with fury and he looks down at me. Quickly, he grabs my hand and restrains it once more. Before he can manage to do anything in retaliation, there’s a knock at the door.

Luca freezes, slamming his hand over my mouth to keep me quiet. A few moments pass and there’s another knock. Luca narrows his eyes at me, leaning down to snarl at me, “Whoever is at that door better fuck off soon or they’ll be dead.”

My phone starts to ring loudly in its place in my back pocket. Luca curses as he forces his hand under me to grab the phone and silence it. “Who the fuck is Nox?” he snarls in my face.

“Viviana? I know you’re in there!” Nox calls out at the door when there’s no answer to his knock or call.

I close my eyes, hoping he’ll find a way in while also hoping he gets far away from here. When it’s silent for a long time, Luca smiles down at me. “See? You’re not worth it for someone to stick around.” I want to curse at him and tell him exactly how wrong he is, but his hand pressed to my mouth keeps me from talking. “Don’t worry, amore mio (my love), I’m not going anywhere. You’ll never get rid of me.”

I sneer under his hand and try to shake my head as best as I can. Those words would feel sweet coming from someone like Zane, but coming from Luca, it’s a threat. He manages to get my jeans unbuttoned, and he’s trying to push his hand down the front of them as I try to wiggle away from him. There’s no warning before he’s thrown off of me and Nox is standing over me. His eyes are furious as he takes in my disheveled state.

He turns back to Luca as he gets to his feet. Luca pulls a knife out of his waistband, and Nox smirks at him. Luca charges, but Nox deflects him easily. Luca got the best of me only because he was able to surprise me. He’s horrible at hand to hand and never would have been able to take me down without the element of surprise.

It seems like it takes hours for Nox to get Luca into a headlock. He looks down at me, waiting, and I give him a quick nod. The crack of bone sounds around the room and I bite my bottom lip, trying to hide how absolutely sexy I find it when he does that.

Nox grabs me, lifting me up like I weigh nothing and sets me down on the edge of my bed. He tugs the tattered remains of my shirt off. I just watch him transfixed as he unbuttons his own shirt and pulls it off before gently pulling it onto me. He buttonsthe shirt quickly and I just sit there, letting him. I should protest and remind him that this is my dorm, so there’s literally a closet full of my shirts just across the room.

I tuck my nose into the collar, smelling the familiar scent of the laundry detergent they all use. “Yeah, I need you and Sloane for a disposal at Viv’s room… Don’t know… He was attacking her and I took care of it,” Nox is saying into his phone.

He rolls his eyes and looks over at me. “Who was that?” he asks me with a sigh.

I sit up a little straighter. “That was Luca,” I tell him, my voice surprisingly horse.

Nox frowns down at the body and relays that information to whoever he’s talking to before he casually walks over and kicks Luca in the stomach like he’ll feel it. “No, don’t tell him just yet. He’s busy and it’ll distract him. She’s fine for now… I’m going to stay with her here.” Nox looks over at me, holding his hand up and pantomiming that they won’t stop talking.

It’s probably Cain. He would be the one to demand more information and provide his judgments rather than just getting things taken care of.

When Nox finally gets off the phone, he sighs and crouches down in front of me. His hand gently grasps my chin and tilts my head this way and that. “Do you have a first aid kit?” he asks me, looking around the small room.

Nodding, I look down at the floor. “It’s under the bed.” Nox reaches under the bed and tugs out my creepy stalker binder, and I press my foot into the cover to keep him from opening it. “That’s not it.” I reach down and pick up the binder to hug against my chest.

He narrows his eyes at me but bends down to actually look under the bed before he pulls out the first aid kit. It’s like second nature to him as he starts to rummage through the supplies, pulling out alcohol wipes, gauze and bandages. I didn’t even notice I was bleeding until he presses the gauze to my forehead and pulls it back to show the bright red smear of blood. Setting it aside, he tears open an alcohol wipe and cleans up the blood that must have dripped down the side of my face.

When he tears another one open, I hiss when he uses it to cleanmy wound. I manage to grit my teeth and not make a sound when he goes back over for another swipe with the alcohol. His face is so focused as he watches what he’s doing. Being this close to Nox is hard. Something about him taking care of me makes this feel so much more intimate than it is.

He opens up a package of butterfly bandages and uses a couple to pinch the cut on my forehead together. When he’s satisfied with the placement of the bandages, he smears a swipe of antibiotic ointment across the cut and tapes some gauze over the wound. He uses his teeth to tear the medical tape and I suddenly want him to bite my lip like that. I don’t even realize I’m leaning forward until his hands grab my shoulders to hold me upright as he looks into my eyes questioningly.

Shit. Did I really just try to kiss him? What the fuck is wrong with me?

“You okay?” he asks me with his brows lowered over his eyes.

“Mhmm,” I manage to hum out, not trusting myself to actually say anything.

My eyes go to his bare chest and wander over his stomach. Nox isn’t as muscular as Sloane and he’s nowhere near as thin as Zane, but he’s hot all the same. It’s obvious that Nox works just as hard as Sloane to be strong or there’s no way he’d be able to go around snapping people’s necks like he does.I wonder if he would let me lick his chest.

“What?!” Nox splutters, falling back on his heels, looking up at me with wide eyes.

Uh-oh, I think I said that out loud. It’s best to deflect as best as I can. “You know, to make sure there’s no evidence left behind.” Because that’s totally believable.

He just stares at me for a long moment. “I think a shower will do just fine,” he assures me, but he’s still looking at me like he’s about to label me with the c-word.

“Ah, yes. A shower. I didn’t think of that.” I nod my head and look away, hoping my cheeks aren’t as red as they feel.

Nox coughs before he gets up and starts straightening the room. Everything that fell off my dresser when Luca slammed me into it gets put back in its place and he collects all the pearl-shaped buttons thatflew off my blouse and tosses them into the trashcan along with my ruined shirt. I just watch him as he goes into full mother hen mode and try to ignore the fact I still want to run my tongue over every inch of his stomach and chest. I groan, flinging myself back on the bed with my eyes closed, trying to stop myself from ogling him more.

Lennox

Viv flops back onto the mattress and I hurry over to make sure she’s okay. Her face looks a little flushed, so I press my hand to her forehead, suddenly worried she’s coming down with a fever on top of being attacked. Her eyes snap open and stare up at me. “Are you okay?” I ask her calmly.
