“Fuck. Liam. Why didn’t you knock?” Katerina gasped as she pulled away from me, gently pushing on my shoulder.

“The front door was open. I let myself in.” Liam said as she pushed me harder.

I refused to move as I eyed the man she said was a cop. He looked familiar, though I couldn’t figure out where I had seen him.

He looked at me and held out his hand.

“Liam Walker. Chief of Police.” He said and that was when it clicked. I’d seen him on TV for press conferences.

“Riley, let me go,” Katerina said softly and I reluctantly moved. The idea of letting her go was painful, even though she wasn’t really mine to hold.

Yet.

“Is it just you?” Katerina asked and Liam glanced over her, taking in the thin fabric of her nightgown that I had found sexy as hell moments ago, and now made me mad.

I shrugged out of my jacket and draped it over her shoulders, wanting to hide the fact that her nipples were very clearly visible and hard.

Liam wiped his hand over his face, hiding the smile as Katerina glared at me, but she didn’t refuse my jacket, so I took it as a win.

“I have another man out the front going to the neighbors to take statements and such to make sure it is treated like an official callout and to see if we can get any information. You want to tell me what happened?” Liam said as he looked around the room.

“I don’t know how much Benjamin told you, but I am having problems with my men. I am assuming that this has something to do with it, though I don’t know why they took a photo album.” Katerina said with a frown.

“I’m aware of what your meeting was about. How much help do you want with this?” Liam asked and I wondered why the Chief of Police was helping someone who he clearly knew was involved with crime.

Was he a crooked cop?

“I’m fine for now. I just need this to be kept quiet. I want to do my own looking into this before it gets out and we both know that there are too many people who talk at the station.” Katerina said and Liam nodded.

“You want me to get someone to come over and replace the glass on the sliding door?” He motioned to the broken glass everywhere and she shook her head.

“No. I’ll take care of it.” She said and Liam raised an eyebrow as I went in search of a broom.

“You know you can accept help, Katerina. It won’t indebt you to us.” He said softly and I glanced at her, watching the emotions that clouded her face before she nodded.

“Thank you. I’ll see you out.” She looked at me and I smiled as I held up the broom I found and started sweeping the glass.

“I don’t know what your situation is, but don’t string him along too long.” I heard Liam say and I stiffened, clenching my hands on the handle.

Was he talking about me or Leo?

“What do you mean?” she asked, and Liam chuckled.

“I recognize the look. I used to look at Serena like that before she let me back into her world. That’s love. Desperate, will do anything for you, love.” He said before their voices faded away.

So, he was talking about me.

I wasn’t sure how I felt about another man encouraging her to be with me, but desperate times and all.

I took my time to sweep up the glass from the broken door and considered what to do next.

So the blonde-haired beauty was a crime boss. Was that something I wanted to be involved with?

Katerina cleared her throat and I stopped, turning slowly to take her in.

Her hair was slightly tangled and hung loose over her shoulders, her cheeks had a slight pink tinge and her nippleswere still hard beneath the fabric of her nightgown, the thin slip of material barely falling to her thighs.

My jacket swamped her frame and when she absently pulled it closer around her shoulders and inhaled deeply, my heart ached.
