“Okay. Let’s go.” She said as she neatly put the box back together.

“You’re evil. The man pretty much asked for a truce, and you just ate his donuts.” Leo said as he shook his head.

“He said we should fuck. That isn’t calling a truce. That is putting gasoline on the fire.” She said with a glare at Hamish who was outside talking on his phone, a large frown over his face.

“The man wasn’t lying. The tension between you two is thick.” Leo muttered and she narrowed her eyes.

“Really? Should I add him to our little family then as well?” She teased and I felt a rush of jealousy before it settled.

“If you want. I don’t mind as long as you let me in.” Leo said as he leaned toward her.

“I can’t go with you. I have to stay here and help until I can get Lisa trained well enough to take over. My other staff are out sick today and I have a new pastry chef coming in for an interview.” I said as I looked at Leo.

I had told him this already so he knew he would be on his own with her.

“It’s fine, Riley. You don’t need to give up your life to follow me around. I have been doing this for years.” She said and I sighed.

She didn’t get it. I was willing to give up everything to be with her. I had waited years to claim her as mine and this situation had given me the perfect opportunity.

“I have a fight tonight. I’ll text you the address. Meet us there?” Leo said and I nodded, glad he seemed to understand. He had his own business that was now running without him. He knew the frustration.

“I’ll see you tonight.” I whispered as I pulled Katerina to me and kissed her again. I loved the little gasp of surprise before she melted into me.

As much as she tried to deny it, she was into this as much as I was, and I had every intention of swooping her off her feet.

When I pulled back, her cheeks were pink, and she looked flustered which was so different to the woman I was used to seeing.

“Stay safe,” I said as I kissed the tip of her nose.

I nodded at Leo as I let her go and she walked out of the café.

“We can make this work, Riley. I think you should start coming for some self-defense lessons too.” Leo said softly and I nodded.

It wouldn’t hurt.

I watched them leave as Hamish came back inside, his eyes lingering on Katerina as she got into the car.

He looked at me and I saw the desire there before he masked it. Leo was right. He was obsessed as well.

“We haven’t properly met but since you seem to be in her life, I am sure we will see each other more,” Hamish said as he held his hand out.

“Riley. This is my café and Kat is my girlfriend.” I said, staking the claim like a caveman.

“Is that so? It looks like the other guy, Leo, right?” He said and I nodded.

“It looks like Leo thinks she is too.” He smiled, squeezing my hand a little tighter.

“Because he is. We are in a poly style relationship.” I repeated my words from before, becoming more comfortable each time I said them.

“Hmm. Interesting.” Hamish said before he took his box of half-eaten donuts.

Part of me wanted to tell him, but now I knew he was interested and wanted to sleep with her, I stayed silent.

“I’ll see you around, Riley.” He said with a nod before he walked away.

I glanced at the line of people and motioned to Lisa I would be a minute as I pulled out my phone.

“Riley. It’s been a long time, man. How are you?” Theo said when he picked up on the third ring.
