“May I tell him who’s calling?”

“I would prefer not to give you my name.”

“Ma'am, I'll try, but he might not take your call without your name. He also might be at lunch, can I get your number just in case?”

“He's been trying to reach me, if he really wants to speak to me, he'll understand why I'm not giving you my name. I'll call back if I have to.” Now Maya has had enough.

“Yes, ma’am.” After a short pause, a man picks up.

“Townsend. May I ask who I'm speaking to?”

“My name is Maya Aaron.”

“Ms. Aaron, I’ll need to ask you a series of questions to verify your identity. First, what is your full name?”

“My full name? All of it?” She looks around dumbfounded by the request.

“Yes, ma'am.”

“My full name is Maya Siobhan Cavanaugh Aaron.”

“Where did your first name come from?”

“My first name was my mother's best friend's middle name.”

“Why do you have the Cavanaugh name?”

“My mother was the only survivor of her family when I was born, she wanted to carry her surname on as another middle name for me. Is that enough?”

“One more question, what was your mother's best friend’s full name?”

“Her name was Isabella Maya Preston.”

“I need her full name with maiden name please.”

“Isabella Maya Winston Preston, good enough?” Maya says angrily.

“Yes, Ms. Aaron, I see you have your mother's temper. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is David Townsend, I represent your late mother’s estate. You have an inheritance entitled to you on your twenty-fifth birthday.”

“Okay. Could you provide me with more information?” Maya asks.

“Certainly. Your mother left a portion of her inheritance to you, Ms. Anabel Preston, and another party.”

“Wait, what?” Mays says as shock registers on both hers and Ana’s faces.

“Yes. Your mother left an inheritance for Anabel, also accessible on her twenty-fifth birthday, which is just three weeks after yours. I’ve been trying to get in contact with Ms. Preston to no avail.”

“Well, Mr. Townsend, Ana is sitting here with me.” Maya turns to look at Ana.

“Wonderful. May I please speak with her?”

“I’m here, Mr. Townsend. You’re on speaker.” Ana leans forward.

“Hello, Ms. Preston. I’ll have to ask you a series of questions as well to confirm your identity.”

“Of course,” Ana replies.

“Ms. Preston, what is your full name?”
