“It sounds like you have a lot of explaining to do. Moreover, why was Ana unconscious?”

“I'll explain later, Mum.”

“Good, I also want to see all those pictures.”

I turn to Anthony and watch him hand the little boy to Jen. Rebekah is sitting in a chair with Duncan quietly talking to her and Meghan. I have questions that need to be asked right away. I have to protect all these people. I hug my mum and kiss her cheek. I then start firing my questions.

“How did you get away without a tail, and how did you get all of them?” I point to Mum and Michael, then to Rebekah and Meghan.

“Well, that father of yours is a wily old coot. I thought he was going to catch me but he got distracted by Bradley, who I think Jonathan's men hired. That guy there, all I had to do was convince him I was helping you and saving them from Bradley's bullet. Jonathan told Bradley to kill your mother and her.” He points to Rebekah.

“Wait, you mean Bradley Cranston?” Michael interrupts.

“Yes, he came to me, and I sent him to Jonathan. I didn't know you and Mrs. Donovan had a past with him.”

“Ms. Taylor,” both Michael and I correct him.

“I'm not going to say I'm mad he's dead, I wish it had been me who took him out,” Michael bites out.

“Michael, it's in the past, let it go.” Mum tries to calm him.

“Patrice, it's now in the past. I’ll never forgive the men that have hurt you.”

“Can I continue?” Anthony interrupts.

“Continue,” I tell him as I look at Michael and make sure he’s calmer.

“As for your other guy, that wasn't easy. He was trickier than your father. I have a friend with British Intelligence that helped with that. Does your girl have the evidence? I'm going to turn it over to my friend so they can put a stop to the firearms sales. Dan is working the case from the British side. That's how I knew I was being burned.” He looks at Ana. “I was going to try to extract you in the beginning, but you flew to the States before I could get to you. I learned Jonathan was a sadist after he almost killed a girl at one of those clubs in London one night in January.”

“Wait, I know you. You followed me in London. How did you know what he did to me? How?” Ana is starting to panic. I walk over and put my arm around her. I look over to see James watching carefully. She doesn't want her father to know, but he might be about to find out. I go to raise my hand to stop what I can imagine he’s going to say, but he doesn’t stop.

“He met me at a club one night. He doesn't know me, just knows I was there. I watched him flay a girl's back. He bragged about how much he's done to you. I was trying to figure out how to help you. I couldn’t blow my cover and help you too.”

“What's he talking about?” James asks.

Ana curls into me and starts crying. Maya walks in and sees what's going on and walks to James.

“Listen, James, like the rest of us, you suspected Jonathan was a sick bastard who hurt Ana. Please don't make her tell you all about it.” She hugs him then walks to Duncan's side.

“Oh, my sweet daughter, I’m so sorry.” James walks over to us and pulls her from my arms to hug her to him.

“Daddy, it's okay now. I'm free, and with the man I love.” She steps back and into my arms again.

I look over to see Michael watching me carefully and my mum smiling.

“How did you know we were here?” I ask, already knowing the answer.

“Really? Let's not play dumb. He doesn't know you're here. Nathan, on the other hand, does know you're in Scotland. It isn't going to take him long to come here. I know you don't trust me yet, what do you want me to say?”

“How about you explain your role?”

“I'm CIA. I've been deep for three years. Jonathan is only a small part. I'm after the bigger fish, Sir. My sister won't be safe until I take them all out. The new identity has only worked for a short time. I've had to move her a couple times now, once they find her again, they will try to kill her. I also need to figure out who's trying to burn me and why. As you can guess, you don't have a mole, Jen was keeping me updated.”

“Why is someone trying to kill Jennifer?” Ian asks.

She turns to her brother and shakes her head. He shrugs and pulls the little boy from Jen's arms to sit him down on the floor.

“I can't tell you that.” He stands and faces Ian, bracing his legs, ready for an attack.
