“You sure she’s not a hybrid?”

“She’s not.”

“You seem pretty possessive of her.”

“Stop it.” I tapped my foot as I tried to control my agitation.

Before I reached the door, I stood at the bottom of the stairs and yelled “Chloe, I made you dinner. I’m leaving so you can eat in peace.”

“Fine. Where are you going?”

“The ship.”

“Leave now. I’m hungry.”

Chapter 42

Chloe

When the door slammed shut, I washed my hands and then walked downstairs. Roger was at the table eating. He motioned to the plate by the oven. “Food.”

“Beautiful. So eloquent,” I said sarcastically.

“Is he your mate?”

“Oh. You know? Don't tell Andy.”

“She saved my life. Why should I lie to her ?”

I sat in front of him. “Because I asked you not to tell her. Ric also asked me not to tell her. And he’s only a friend.”

“Mate.”

“Can you smell it or something?”

He smirked. “A bit of seeing. But mostly from how he reacts to you.”

“I’ve barely interacted with him since you have been here.”

He waved to his eyes. “Seeing. It’s why I saved Andy. I could see the goodness in her.”

“Do you know what kind of being Ric is?”

“The ship said Morynth.”

“Oh. That will kill you.” he pulled out a tablet with an image of a NaughtyFans girlie. He slid the tablet to me. “Who is that?”

I squinted. “I mean it's NaughtyFans.” I tapped the screen and found her name. “Name’s Wendy Lou. But it would be a pseudonym.”

He pulled the tablet back. “Do you feel it?”

“Feel what?”

“Arousal for her.”

“No, not for her.” The constant drumming of need for Ricon pulsed through my body though.

Roger’s face shifted to anger. “She’s a hybrid like Andy.”
