“Yeah. I need to get the list to the Emperor.”

“That alien you lost has moved close to one target.”

My head shot up. “You have the list?”

“Of course.”

“Should I be worried?”

“I don’t know. It was the alien Andy sent, so she must trust him. But it wasn’t an alien that already lives on this planet. They’re just the same state so far.”

“How much do you listen to our conversations?”

“All!” She giggled.

A gif appeared on the screen with a woman holding a notepad with the wordsI’ll be listening. I sighed.

“By the way, I have made you a reservation at a nice place to take her to. You paid an exorbitant rate, but good for you. You’re leaving and can blow the money.”

“Stop, Pixa.”

“She’s my friend and you’re an ass. I know you care for her. And maybe that is why you won’t make the move. You say you’re giving her the knot, but you’re not giving her your heart.”

She already has it.

“It wouldn’t be safe for her in space.”

“You have a ton of excuses.”

I shrugged. “I’ve got to go. Send me the deets.”

“Please, if you honor your gods in any way, give her your knot before you leave. Actually . . . I won’t let you leave unless you give it to her. So keep that in mind.”

I groaned as I left.Damn ship.

Chapter 51

Chloe

“What should I wear?” I asked as I stood in front of the closet, swaying.

“Pixa said something nice.”

“What does that mean?”

There was a knock on the door. I walked to the door and there was a delivery man. “Delivery for Chloe.”

“That’s me?”

“Here.” He shoved a dress box into my hands and walked back to his truck.

I turned to Ricon. “Did you buy me this?”

He groaned. “It must have been Pixa. She pulled out all the stops for this.”

“Pixa is a good friend, for a spaceship.”

He pursed his lips. “She can hear you. She’s always listening.”
