I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding.

She took it much better than I thought she would. “Me too. I’m sure it’s not anything we can’t handle.”

Amara licks her lips and looks right at me. “Dante’s part of the Lopez cartel, and you’re part of the Ramirez, so how is that going to work?”

I shrug, “I don’t have anything to do with the politics within my family. As far as I know, my uncle Alejandro is doing a good job managing the cartel.”

Amara furrows her brows. “You didn’t want it?”

I shake my head immediately, “Fuck no. I wasn’t raised in that life and wouldn’t know how the fuck to handle anything.”

Amara stands and grabs her phone, “I understand. Well, I don’t know how to break this to you. If you’re a Ramirez, it means we’re cousins. Considering our family is prominent here, it should keep a few things out of our hair.”

“Wait,” I state, rising from my chair. “How are you a Ramirez?”

I didn’t have the slightest clue about this.

Amara laughs lightly. “My father’s a bastard child. He wasn’t involved in the cartel at all, so you wouldn’t have known. He’s the youngest sibling out of the Ramirez kids. You might have a better reach with Alejandro than I do. He might be able to soften the waters before something catastrophic happens.”

She has a good point.

“I’ll call him and see what he can do, but I can’t guarantee anything.”

Amara laughs, “If Elias doesn’t want an issue with us, he should back the fuck down. If he wants a war, by God, we’ll give him one. Oh, and Damon’s my brother, so it means you’re cousins with him too.”

This has got to be why she’s the president of the club.

She might be a woman, but she’s as ruthless as she is fearless, not to mention the Ramirez blood flowing through her veins.

Zane made a great choice when he promoted her.

A few moments of silence pass by until I speak again, “There’s something else you should know about.”

Amara cocks her head to the side, “Oh? What’s that?”

I shift my weight from one foot to the other. “Last night Doom and Boulder went out for a few drinks. They said someone came up to them and told them if we didn’t back off, their boss was going to come for us.”

Her eyes go stone cold. “Is that so?”

I nod, confirming. “Yeah, so you know that means whoever this is, they’re getting bolder. I’m not sure if it’s Elias or not.”

She smirks, responding cooly. “Let them come. I’ll be sitting behind the door waiting for their pathetic asses. We’ll find out who’s behind this soon enough, Razor. Honestly, I’m surprised I’ve been here this long without any crazy issues.”

Before I can respond to her, a loud knock comes to the door.

Amara looks over at the door and yells, “Come on in.”

Doom walks into the office, looking between the two of us. “I’m sorry for disturbing you two, but there’s someone at the gate asking for you.” Doom’s eyes land on me.

Amara and I share a look.

Who could it be?

Is trouble already at our gates?

Turning, I look back at Amara. “I’ll go check it out.”

Leaving Amara’s office I walk through the clubhouse and head outside.
