I ran over to my clothes, slipped into them, and then grabbed two to-go containers and packed them full. Burgers, brats, pasta salad went into one, and desserts in the other. Dashing out to my car, I set them on the passenger seat and drove like a maniac to my parent’s house.

The lights were on in the kitchen, living room, and my old bedroom.

Perfect!

I parked my car in the driveway, grabbed the food and ran to the front door. My hand closed around the knob, finding it locked.

Good. My mate is safe inside.

I flipped my keys around and slid my house key into the lock, turning the knob. A smile grew on my face as I smelled apples and heard talking in the kitchen.

Closing the door, I walked through the living room and found only my dads in there.

“Anders.” One laughed. “Look at that pout!”

“We’ve got him in the tub.” Pop narrowed his gaze at me.

I nodded. “That’s great. I brought him food.”

“That was sweet of you, Bas. We’ll let him know.” My other dad came and took the bag from me.

“I can go check on him.”

“No, darling, you can’t.” He shook his head and finger at me. “He’s been through a traumatic ordeal. You need to go home, let the suppressors do their job, let us pamper him, and you can see him Monday when he goes to class.”

“I’ll pick him up. What time?” I stepped closer to the island, reaching for an apple in the fruit bowl.

“Um, no.” Pop shook his head. “Charity and Jesse will escort him.”

“Dad.”

“Son.”

We stood there staring at each other, and it made me feel like a young pup and not a grownup. Snarling, I looked away.

“No fair using the dad stare.”

Pop chuckled. “Until my dying breath, you will always be my son, and I’ll always be your father.”

My other dad sighed happily. “Same.”

“Just let him know I came by and brought him food.” I kicked at the island.

“Will do.” Pop smiled. “Now get out.”

My body shook with laughter as I walked out the sliding glass doors, eating my apple. I pulled my phone out and thought about messaging Julius, but then I remember he finally got to go on his date.

Looking over my shoulder, I saw my pop making sure I hopped the fence and went inside my house. Shaking my head, I hopped the fence and walked through my backyard and into my kitchen.

I pre-heated my oven for a frozen pizza and took a shower in the meantime. The hot water soothed my muscles from the game and the fight. I also had a few cuts where the deckhead’s claws scratched me.

Scrubbing my body, I thought about Monday.

He’s not gonna let it go.

That thought made me smile big. Let Simon come at me. I still have a score to settle with him and it won’t be settled in my mind until he experiences every hurt he brought on my mate.

I shadowboxed a little before rinsing off, then stepped out and wrapped in my towel.
