“I think you’ll enjoy it.” He sat back and rocked in his desk chair. “Does your pack gather for things?”

Sure. They like to gangbang and run trains on the omegas.

“Um, not really.” I looked down at my books. “Does your pack?”

“We do. We’re a family.”

“That sounds nice.” I took a deep breath. “Do you, uh… need an assistant?”

“As a matter of fact, I do.” He sat forward. “I suck at organizing.”

“Well.” I brightened up. “You’re in luck. I love to organize.”

“Sounds like a perfect combination.” He nodded. “With homecoming tonight, how about if we get together on Monday morning in my office to discuss everything?”

“That sounds good.” I nodded excitedly. “Th-thank you.”

“No problem.” He stood up and came over to shake my hand. “I’ll catch up with you later.”

“See you tonight!” I shook his hand and walked out of the auditorium with my head held high.

I’d never run with a pack before. Simon and the other alphas lurked around every corner and tree.

And my parents were no help. It disappointed them that their only son had been born an omega. My three sisters were all betas. So my parents told me to keep my head down, stay quiet, and stay out of the way.

Omegas were rare enough, but having a petite son with a soft side was too much for them to deal with. The moment I graduated high school, they got me enrolled in a special apartment building for omegas.

I hated living there. Alphas came around all the time, and when one of us went into heat, it reminded me of a bloodbath on the battlefield.

“Just do what your alphas want.” My dad grumbled. “They rule the roost.”

Disgust filled my belly. I didn’t want to do that.

I wanted to wait for my true mate.

“Nolan!” a familiar voice yelled down the hall. “Hey! Nolan!”

I smiled and turned to face my new friend. His shoulder-length brown hair fluttered as he walked faster. “Hey, Flynn.” I waited for him to catch up with me. “Prof. said yes.”

His brown eyes lifted as he smiled at me. “That’s cool. Is that the classroom you’ll be helping in?”

“Yep.” I nodded and rubbed my still sore chest.

He shook his head. “I envy you.”

“Why?” I stopped walking and looked at him. “You could be a teacher’s assistant, too.”

“No.” He laughed. “That’s the class Julius De Luca is in.” He slapped his hand against his chest, covering his heart. “That man is so hot, with his dark skin and eyes.”

Shrugging, I felt my face scrunch up. “And?”

Flynn rolled his eyes. “Do you ever pay attention to all the hotties around?”

“No.” My voice was firm. “I’m not looking for a hottie. I want an equal.”

“Spoken like a true beta.” He shook his head.

“If only.” I sighed.
