“What?” the other three cats shouted, but Soraya just kept grooming herself, completely unperturbed.

Merry woke to an anvil sitting on her chest.

She opened one eye and found herself staring at a monstrous cat’s butt.

Like seriously huge.

For one long, disorienting moment, Merry thought the sexy wolf had somehow shifted into a panther, but then she realized Sam’s very human arm was slung around her waist and he was lying next to her, definitely not the owner of the cat’s butt.

That’s when she realized that even though Sam was lying on her left side, something was pinning down her hair on the right.

And it wasn’t the same cat sitting on her chest.

That cat was so big, his front paws were lying right on top of her very delicate bits, and yes, she could feel him making that strange kneading movement that cats loved to make when they were super content.

“I’m happy you’re happy, big guy, but try not to cause any permanent damage, okay?” She winced as his claws pricked sensitive flesh.

Shifting slightly, she glanced to the right and saw a second cat was curled up on top of her hair.

As if it sensed her watching, the cat’s eyes slowly blinked open, showing off exceptionally bright, green eyes with tiny flecks of silver scattered throughout the green.

“Drusilla, is that you?”

Drusilla yawned, then slowly stood up, stretching so slowly, Merry almost missed the way she grew as she stretched.

Seriously?

How in all of Hell had her father managed to slip two hell-kittens into that box without her knowing?

“So this is where you’ve been hiding, daughter.”

Merry yelped as both hell-cats launched off the bed into Lucifer’s arms with yowls of welcome.

“What the—” Sam came flying out of bed in response to the yowls that sounded as if they came from the bowels of Hell.

A man was standing in the doorway, glaring at him. “Who are you?”

“Dad!” Merry jumped from the bed, wrapped a sheet around her and came to stand in front of Sam. “You can’t just come barging into my bedroom! Out!”

“Well, I wouldn’t have to if you kept your father informed of your whereabouts, now would I?”

“Like you haven’t known all along! Don’t think I didn’t notice you slipped two hell-kittens into my car.”

“Actually, I had nothing to do with these two stowaways.” He rocked the two monstrous cats back and forth in his arms. “I can’t believe they found you before I did. Smart, aren’t they?”

“Whatever. Would you please go into the living room so we can get dressed?”

“Yeah, yeah, hurry it up though. I’ve got things to do, places to be.” With one last glare at Sam, her father turned and stomped off.

“That’s your dad?” Sam asked faintly. The man was scary. Like seriously scary. He gave off dark vibes that Sam couldn’t even begin to process. “I’m guessing he’s the one responsible for your half-demon blood.”

“Oh, yeah. My mom was half-witch, half-fairy. Kudos to dear old dad for having the courage to tap that, you know?”

Sam shuddered even thinking about it.

“Just be glad you missed his entrance,” Merry said as set about getting dressed.

“What? Why?”
