My nose flares every so often with scents dragged in from outside. I’m not as sensitive as I used to be but I still require my mates to shower before crawling into the nest. Dr. Ashford said it might just be something that stays with me or the sensitivity may go away on its own. It’s been five years, so I doubt it.

Ren makes his way back over to me, tilting his head to the side. “What’s wrong?”

“You smell like outside.”

A wild grin splits his face. “Does that mean I get a shower?” Code for being ravaged under a stream of hot water for several minutes until I’m satisfied.

I’m about to answer when two more bodies enter the house, Isaias and Joel looking between all of us to understand the situation. Ren plays into it, leaning into my chest as he strokes a hand down my arm.

“Apparently, I need a shower, guys. Dinner will have to wait a little.”

Isaias and Joel’s eyes darken as identical wicked smiles slot onto their lips. “We can wait,” Isaias drawls. “Because I know who’s next.”

Heat blooms in my belly at the thought of what Isaias is promising, our little boys interrupting the moment as they greet the rest of their fathers. I give Isaias and Joel a short kiss before hauling Ren over my shoulder and moving toward the bathroom. His hands fist the back of my shirt and no doubt he’s sticking out his tongue in jest to everyone else.

Nala groans, knowing exactly what we’re about to do, Isaias and Joel fighting over who’s next.

I never thought I’d make it this far—to a place where I had somewhere to call home.

But I did.

And I’d never give it up for anything.
