“Maya? Maya who had been trying to court Nico before Jolie came?” Fox asked.

I nodded again without looking up.

“You don’t need to feel bad about who your parents are,” Caleb said. “Their sins don’t make you, plus, you never even knew them.”

Easy for him to say, his parents were princes and a princess.

“I’ll see what I can find,” Deryn said and walked back into the house.

“Well, until we can find your birth certificate, we won’t know for sure what your animal might be. So, let’s continue your training,” Leona said. “What other abilities do you have?”

After showing them the extent of my telekinesis abilities and testing out my elven nature powers, I was exhausted.

Branson brought me out a bottle of water and I chugged it in two large gulps.

“Thanks,” I gasped as I took a breath.

“So, have you noticed yet?” Leona asked.

“Noticed what?” I asked back, turning to face her with a frown.

“That all of your powers are open and you’ve been using them without a block,” she replied.

My mouth dropped. She was totally right. I hadn’t even thought about it.

“Sometimes, we get in our own way,” she said and patted my shoulder. “I think that knowing you had people here who could help you control yourself allowed you to freely use all your powers.”

“It also helped knowing where each power came from,” I admitted. “I never knew some of my telekinesis was actually elven nature magic.”

Fox smiled. “Our magic has a way of helping us even when we don’t know what we’re doing. I’m glad you are here, though. It is very important that you be trained how to properly use your magics. As a hybrid with so many different tools at your disposal, going about untrained could be catastrophic and add to the fear the idiots in society have of you.”

“Thankfully, you seem to have a very good understanding of yourself and your limits already,” Leona said. “Having to be gentle with those you were treating likely helped you suppress a lot of your more destructive powers.”

That did make sense.

Caleb’s phone rang and he walked away to answer it, his brows furrowed immediately and he looked upset.

“If you’d ever like to talk to someone about dating multiple males, especially alphas and a prince, let me know,” Leona whispered to me.

I scoffed and shook my head. “I’m still not convinced this is all real. If I woke up in a hospital tomorrow with them telling me I’d been in a coma, I’d fully believe it. How has this become my life?”

“Oh, trust me, I totally understand. I was spending my days bored in Atlantis, just passing the time with friends, and then a few years later I was suddenly dating twin dragons, a grumpy werewolf, and an elven prince. I still pinch myself every now andthen.” She smiled and set her hand on my shoulder. “It’s a lot to take in, a lot to deal with, but you just need to be sure that you’re always honest with them. If you don’t like how they’re acting, if you don’t like how they’re treating each other, if they hurt your feelings without seeming to realize it, you just tell them. I’ve known Caleb his entire life and can tell you with certainty that there will be times you need to stop him and explain how you’re feeling. He’s very good at sensing feelings, but he isn’t so great at understanding where or why those feelings are happening to you.”

“That’s really helpful, thank you.” And it truly was. I was so new to all of this that I wasn’t sure what to do if something upset me, even if I knew they hadn’t done it on purpose.

“Most males, especially alphas, strive to protect us, to keep us safe,” she added. “Sometimes they don’t understand that we don’t need protection, but a shoulder to cry on. Also, they are terrible at listening when you just want to vent. They are programmed to figure out solutions to your problems. I recommend that you tell them in advance you want to vent, that way they listen without offering a solution at the end. Took me quite a while to figure that one out.” She chuckled softly and shook her head, obviously remembering a time that had happened.

“Thanks, Leona. Right now, I’m just trying to figure out how to stop feeling embarrassed every time one of them sees me with another of them. Does that get better or easier?”

She nodded. “Yes. You’re lucky that you’re going into this with all the males willing to share. I had one resistant to the relationship and that caused some tension and issues.”

“I can see how that would happen,” I said as I watched Triston talk to Declan and Kylan.

Caleb walked over, still scowling, and said, “I need to take care of something. I’m going to be gone about a day.”

My heart started pounding. “What do you mean?”

“I got a tip about a hybrid possibly captured by H.E. sympathizers. I’m going to try to break them out,” he explained.
