Okay, grumpy. I scan the room and bite on my lip. Fuck me, his security is really gone. We’re the only people here in this joint, smelling like expensive whiskey and cologne. All grey walls, freaking me out because you can’t locate any doors. Yep, he’s going to off me. I start to tap my right foot on the floor, and he runs his eyes from my shoes all the way up to my face. Without any expression on his, I’m screwed, the man doesn’t want me.

I take a deep breath, my heart hammering in my chest. “Or you can give me to someone else.” The moment the words leave my mouth, he lunges for me and hauls me up from the chair and pushes me up against the wall. And I was right, he’s a little taller than I am. His presence alone makes me feel tiny as fuck, and I shrink before the man.

His fists land against the wall, next to my face, holding me hostage. “The deal is between me and you, no one else, do you understand?” he bellows. “No fucking anyone while you’re with me, got it?”

I nod, my throat dry as sandpaper.

“A month, and if I’m not satisfied it can go up to two,” he rasps. My eyes go wide in response. “Don’t look at me like that,” he taunts. “A month and you stay at my place so you can’t fuck anyone else. And I can have you whenever I want and how I want. No questions asked.”

I want to protest but he does his curling of the side of the lip thing again, and I lose my ability to speak. Why is it so incredibly hot and scary at the same time?

“I wasn’t—” I begin.

He cuts me off by making a tsk sound, like a deep ‘if you speak before your turn that’s it, you’re done’, warning. “Whatever shit you need, one of my guys can get it from your place. You can’t leave, only with me, and you do what I tell you. This is how you pay your debt.”

“But I…” I start, losing the nerve to say more.

“No, this is the deal or nothing else,” he says, all in control while I’m a shaking mess.

I suck my bottom lip between my teeth and weigh my options—debt with the mafia K-pop guy or debt with the bank and lose my grandpop’s apartment. All the memories we shared there, all the times we painted together, the plants filling up the better part of each room. I lock eyes with the asshole, I’ll take my chances.

“Deal,” I tell him, holding out my hand for him to shake.

He stops staring at my mouth, frowns, and looks at my hand before he grabs my arm and hauls me out of there.

I couldn’t get her in my fucking car fast enough. I usually stay and count my cash with my number one man and my brother. But Jong-wan saw my lips twitch into a sort of smile while I pushed her in the passenger seat with a squeal and a couple of swearwords she thought I didn’t hear. She pisses me off, but my dick doesn’t think so, he’s interested, and so am I.

My real brother walks over while she grabs the leather seat and those big, scared eyes look anywhere but in my direction.

“Should I ask where you are abducting the foreigner to?” he asks while he grins at me.

I shake my head, not saying anything, the bastard knows me too well.

“She’s one hundred grand in debt?” he asks, crossing his arms in front of his chest, giving me the brotherly stare down.

I nod. “Yes, she’s going to pay me off, well, sort off.” I try to hold back my grin as I lean against the car, failing miserably. I can’t fool my brother. I barely smile, and now I’ve done it multiple times in the span of two hours.

“Should I ask how, before the cops come knocking and search for her because you’re kidnapping the poor girl?” He gives me another one of his brotherly looks I hate so much, and I grind my molars. He is the only one who can call me out on my shit.

“No.” I knock my fist against the blacked-out window, making sure she’s not searching for any weapons in the car—I have enough in there for her to stab me in the dick.

“She seems nice.” He shrugs, staring at the car. My car, with my woman, I want to yell in his face or take a swing at him, but I refrain myself. He’s the only one who ever believed in me, when I was a small-time criminal, not the businessman I am now. He stuck by me and helped while the six of us created our empire.

“Don’t look at her,” I growl out, and he smiles like he knows something I don’t.

“I wasn’t, bro. I mean, she looks like a nice girl. Someone Mom would like to meet.”

“I’m not introducing her to our parents,” I grit out under my breath.

“You sure about that?” I ball my fists and he laughs. “By the way, you have a meeting with the guys tomorrow, so don’t forget.”

I nod. Ever since the five of my friends came together and started ruling this town, each in our own ways, business has been booming. “Yeah, I’ll make sure of it,” I tell him and salute.

“She really does look like someone who I’d want to be friends with, so try not to kill her.” My brother hasn’t said this before. How long was he watching us for? I don’t show any weakness. I don’t show my emotions as my brothers tell me; I have to keep it this way. I grind my teeth together and want to punch him for noticing her, for even thinking about her.

He laughs and holds up his hands, walking backward. “Okay, relax, I get it, hands off.”

I mean, he’s my brother, but this one is different. “You better tell the others she’s off limits,” I say, raising my voice a little. I never do this, and he knows I mean business.
