“Then it’s settled,” Kellan said. “As soon as we can wrap up our caseload, we’ll move.”

“Is there a lot to do?” I asked, not sure what they did when they weren’t storming cult headquarters and rescuing omegas.

“There isn’t a lot that can’t be passed off to other teams,” Crew said, his gaze hardening. “But we’d prefer to have the men in charge of the APA behind bars before we leave.”

I leaned into Crew, absorbing his strength and power. “Yeah. It’d be nice to not spend the rest of my life looking over my shoulder.”

“You won’t,” Kellan vowed. “We’ll find him and make sure he can’t ever hurt another person ever again.”

Rhett stroked a hand down my spine. “Don’t worry about that, love. Focus on all of the good things coming up. Think about what you’d like our new home to look like.”

I looked around the room. At the warm tones and the stunning architectural lines. I knew they’d chosen every inch of the design themselves. “But you built this beautiful home. I’m not sure you want my thoughts when this place was already pretty perfect.”

“You’re right,” Jude said, touching my hip. “We built it for us before we ever knew you’d be part of our lives. The next house we build will be for all of us.”

Rhett nodded. “We’ll focus it around your nest, making it exactly what you want. We’ll make sure there’s enough rooms for each of us to have a space and room for our family to grow one day.”

“That sounds expensive,” I muttered, my shoulders slumping.

Crew started to laugh, the sound warm and familiar. “Baby, the money you’ve made in interest off your parents’ shares the last four years would cover the building and furnishing of a house twice this size. And that’s not counting my trust fund or Rhett’s. Or the fact that we’ve all invested well in my parents’ companies.”

I frowned. “But I can’t use that money.”

“As your pack, we can,” Kellan said, amused as he watched me. “As soon as our pack is official, that money is yours, the way it always should’ve been. Your house, your money… We’d never keep it from you.”

“I don’t know what to say.” My brain was whirling with all the possibilities. “What if… I mean, could I go to school? College, I mean? Shit, I still had two months left before I graduated high school when Uncle Henry took me.”

“Whatever you want,” Jude reiterated. “You can get your GED first and then do college. Do you know what you want to study?”

“I’m not sure,” I admitted. “I used to want to be a nurse, but now I think I’d like to do something to help out with the organization your parents started.” I looked at Crew for confirmation.

“Calla works there part-time, too,” he told me, squeezing my hips with an encouraging smile. “You’d be an incredible asset and probably be able to relate to omegas in a way that a lot of others can’t.”

Translation: my fucked up history might actually have a silver lining.

Well, other than landing me right in the midst of Pack Dutton.

“When can we leave?” I asked, excitement building in my chest as I wiggled a little on Crew’s lap.

Rhett let out an unhappy sort of huff. “First we have to finish jumping through the OS hoops. Legally we aren’t allowed to take you out of the state until our pack status is formalized.”

I turned to look at him. “Can we do that now?”

Kellan barked out a laugh. “Fuck, I love the way your mind thinks.”

My brain tumbled over the word love even as I felt my skin heat and my limbs relax.

“Taking you across state lines before Omega Services gives us the formal okay would likely turn into a bigger clusterfuck,” Crew muttered, sounding annoyed that he had to bend to someone else’s will. “For now, we have to play their game.”

A chill rippled down my spine. “What if they say no? I mean, they can do that, can’t they?”

“Theoretically they can,” Rhett agreed, “but having my name and Crew’s attached to the pack gives us an advantage. My parents’ pack is well known in high society circles in D.C. and Crew’s family is just as known on the west coast.”

“Spoiled brat,” Jude teased.

Rhett narrowed his eyes. “I can’t wait until you’re cleared for the things I plan to do to that smart mouth of yours.”

“Pretty sure my mouth didn’t take a bullet, alpha,” Jude countered, his emerald eyes glittering. He licked his lips in an exaggerated manner. “Nope. Fully intact and working as normal.”
