He wouldn’t meet my gaze. “I was a young alpha, and I’ve always had an issue with control. I think the medical term is Excessive Pseudo Alpha Aggression. I wanted to know why Kerry was breaking the promise we’d made to each other, but she got hysterical and thought I was going to attack her or force-bond her.”

I growled, the sound shocking me, but I knew Kellan would never do that.

“Anyway, the cops were called. It created a big rift in my family, and I think everyone was glad when I went to California for college,” he finished.

“Where you met Crew,” I deduced.

He nodded. “They make alphas take courses the same as omegas, but less intensive. They go over things like rut fog, pack bonds, and extreme alpha aggression. There’s even testing that evaluates what kind of alpha you’re likely to be. There’s fucking categories.”

“There’s different kinds of alphas?” I frowned.

“Yeah. Protector, leader, independent, strategic… It’s close to twenty things an alpha can predominantly identify as, and it usually helps when establishing a pack so personalities don’t clash. Crew, for example, is a Leader. Sounds generic, but it means he has the ability to lead people and a pack. He can balance his alpha nature with what’s good for the pack as a whole.”

A soft smile pulled at my mouth. “Yeah, that sounds like Crew.”

“Rhett is a Strategist. He’s able to objectively see things and uses reason to override instinct,” Kellan added in a more subdued tone.

I hesitated when he fell silent. “And you?”

He sighed wearily. “Aggressor. It means I have a high likelihood of becoming physically and emotionally aggressive or feral. My primal instincts almost always dominate the way I think and handle situations.”

“That’s why you freaked out last night,” I mused.

“Yeah. If I’d gone feral, I could’ve forced you to bond, Hazel.” He trailed a finger over the hickey he’d left on my neck.

“It wouldn’t be forcing me if it was something I wanted,” I murmured.

Kellan stilled. “You… You’d want that?”

I lifted my gaze to his. “Well, yeah. I mean, there’s a big part of my brain that says this is too soon, but I think that’s because I’m used to beta relationships. My omega side is screaming that this is where I’m supposed to be.”

His gaze heated and Kellan’s cock stirred inside me, thickening even more. “I really fucking love your omega side.”

“Do omegas have categories?” I asked curiously.

“Yeah, but I honestly don’t remember what they are. Calla could probably help you out with that if it’s something you wanted to know.”

I grinned. “Maybe one day. For now, Calla told me to trust my omega impulses, so that’s what I’m trying to do.” I smoothed his hair away from his eyes. “And I know you’d never hurt me, Kellan. Kerry, your brothers… they’re idiots.”

“They really are,” Crew spoke up from the edge of the nest.

I twisted around, surprised that I hadn’t sensed Crew in the nest, but my heart gave a happy leap when I spotted him, the same time that my pussy clenched around Kellan. Now that Crew was here, maybe I could convince him to join us.

Kellan gave a playful growl and trapped me in his arms as he glared at Crew. “You can’t take her.”

Crew scoffed. “Oak and Silas are on their way over so we can discuss what Dr. Berthand said. Also, Hazel received a package.”

I lifted my head. “I got mail?”

Crew nodded, his expression guarded. “It’s an envelope from Omega Services.”

“Pass,” I muttered, shaking my head. “Can we burn it?”

“Probably not,” Crew replied, not looking happy about being a responsible adult, but that’s what he got for testing as a Leader. “But you two should get up.”

“Or you could join us,” Kellan offered, squeezing my ass as he rolled his hips.

“I like that plan,” I agreed, my eyelids hooding as my core clenched around Kellan. Slick seeped around his knot, smearing between us.
