Ican’t keep my excitement at bay. It’s only two days until I get to see her. Until I make her mine. Today we are in Boston, and the next stop is Hartford, Connecticut. My parents are meeting us at the concert, as are her friends and family. I told them I wanted them all to be there when I told her I was staying. I wasn’t sure where or how I would get a job, but when I reached out to Brie, she gave me Nick’s number. Nick told me they were looking for a second drama teacher to teach some classes part-time, he said once I interview he could almost guarantee the job on the spot since he was one of my interviewers. It was just a formality.

I can’t believe I used to be a little jealous of him and how Aubrey talked about him, but I can genuinely tell that he loves her like a sister and would do anything for her. She needs more people like that.

The only thing that could ruin this plan is if she finds out beforehand and doesn’t show or completely turns me down. I’m hoping that doesn’t happen. I’m just asking her to give us a shot. It’s not like I’m proposing. At least not yet. I want her to give us a shot when we both aren’t thinking about how it will work or who’s living where. I will make it an easy choice; I will be wherever she is. I know she wants this just as much as I do. Now I have to make it happen.

Here goes nothing.

AUBREY

Concert Day

Link texted that we were welcome to arrive early if we wanted to take advantage of the VIP lounge a little longer, so we made our way to Hartford as soon as everyone was ready.

I saw Elijah first, and he gave me the biggest hug and then shook Brie’s hand and then kissed the top of it. Brie blushed a little. She tried to hide it, but I think she’s got a bit of a crush. She would never act on it since she is so closed off from guys, but seeing her blush is cute.

I was talking to a few of the guys when I was scooped up from behind, and for a moment I freaked, but then I saw everyone else smiling, so I knew it was Link.

“Songbird! You made it!”

I laughed hysterically when my feet touched the ground again, and I turned and hugged him tightly.

“Of course we made it. I’ve missed you.” My body froze as soon as it came out of my mouth, and I felt a nervous flutter in my lower belly. But he hugged me a little bit tighter.

“I missed you so much. You have no idea.”

He kissed the top of my head and I looked up at him, and his eyes met mine.

“I have a little idea. You look good, Link.” He smiled, and I turned back around, but he stayed standing behind me with his arm around my neck.

He leaned down to whisper in my ear. “You called me Link again.”

My face heated when he winked back at me. He looked away and started chatting with everyone else. It felt good to have him hold me again, even if it was only for a few minutes.

He introduced us to some of the road crew. He and Nick were getting chummy, but that didn’t surprise me because they are alike in so many ways. It was weird though, and they were closer than I expected for a first-time conversation.

It was finally show time, so we took our seats, and I could see Link on stage right. His smile was shining super white in the dark area behind the curtain. Their opener was the bomb. He was a country singer who was discovered on social media. I followed him immediately.

Once the opener was done, we had about ten minutes or so until Reckless Riders went on stage, so I went to get a drink in the VIP lounge. When I returned to my seat, I was surprised to see my mom and dad standing with Brie.

I ran up to them and gave them all a hug. I haven’t seen them in over a week because of work. I’m trying my hardest to leave the house with Callie and Jake. I know they will implode soon and I don’t want to be there when it happens.

“What are you doing here? I asked.

“We wanted to see the band. Link invited us.”

“He did?”

“He invited us too,” I heard Liza’s voice from behind me.

“Oh my God! Hey!”

We all hugged, and Reckless Riders started their first song before I could even ask what was happening. I kept looking behind the stage but didn’t see Link anymore. He was probably dealing with band stuff, I’m sure.

I was getting nervous because Elijah told me he would be debuting the song I wrote. Then it clicked. Link invited everyone to hear my song. That man is something else.

I finally saw Link waiting in the wings again and he blew me a kiss. My cheeks instantly heated, and I felt flutters erupt in my stomach. The feeling caught me a little off guard. I knew I was still a little nervous around him, and I fucking miss him like crazy, but that feeling… I want that again.

Elijah goton the microphone and asked me to come up on stage. I was mortified. I was doing everything I could not to go up there, but my oh-so-supportive and loving family practically dragged me up there.
