I move to kiss his lips, but the front door opens, and a commotion comes from the living room.

“Fuck,” I say, stepping out of his embrace.

“They’re here,” he says. A smile lights up his face, and he releases me immediately, rushing for the living room.

I follow him and in steps Aiden and Brent. He moves to them in quick strides and embraces Aiden first. The male version of me—taller than I am, but with the same brown hair and eyes. His hair is falling into his face as the white T-shirt stretches over his muscular frame. I make my way over and hug Aiden.

“Aud,” he says, pulling me in. “Are Mom and Dad here?”

“They’re in their bedroom,” I tell him, giving him a tight squeeze.

“Got any hugs for me?” Brent asks. He’s the tallest one in the band and looks the most intimidating. His head is shaved, and he’s covered in tattoos, but he’s the sweetest man you will ever meet. He barely speaks. I think in the four years I’ve known him; he’s said about twenty words to me each time he sees me. But I love him all the same.

“Hi, Brent. Of course, I do.” I hug him and he gives me a big squeeze that makes me grunt.

“Be fucking careful with her,” Derek growls.

I freeze instantly, and all eyes snap to Derek.

“Okay,” Brent says, slowly releasing me. “Everything okay, D?”

Aiden is studying him, waiting for a response. I swear they’ve been here for less than five minutes, and I’ve already lost five years of my life.

“She just got a tattoo. Her ribs are probably sore,” Derek says coolly.

I nod and close my eyes, taking a deep breath. Then I immediately hope that no one noticed the action.

“Let’s see it,” Brent says, smiling brightly at me. Aiden is glancing between Derek and me.

“Who inked her?” Aiden snaps at Derek, glaring at him.

“Rooster,” Derek replies.

“I’m old enough to get a tattoo, Aiden. Would you relax?”

He sighs. Hearing who inked me seems to relax him a bit, maybe since it’s someone he knows and not from some hole-in-the-wall shop. “I know you are. I don’t care that you have one. Have you seen me?” He gestures to the full sleeves he has on both arms.

I’ve lost count of the amount that he has—both of his arms are covered in the colorful artwork. They’re all of the sea, and it almost makes me want to call him Aquaman, but I’m pretty sure he would kick my ass for the comparison. “I’m glad you got it from someone reputable.”

“I’d never take her to a shady place,” Derek says defensively.

“No doubt,” Aiden answers.

“It’s just three little fish with a wave,” I say.

“Cool. Can we see it?” Brent asks.

“Who are the fish?”

“Duh!” I say with a laugh, gesturing toward him, Derek, and me. I pull up my tank top and put the tattoo on display, and Aiden nods in appreciation, eyebrows raised.

“Awesome,” Brent says.

Derek’s staring at me, his eyes darkening with desire. I shiver at the look he’s giving me. Thankfully, no one notices, and my parents make their way into the room as I’m lowering my shirt.

“Did you say you got a tattoo?” Mom asks.

“I thought it would be something nice to commemorate the beach house and all.”
