“It’s fine girl. I told you to get it to me when you can.”

Kasim couldn’t believe he’d been such a fool to be taken in by a woman. Again. Prepared for battle he pushed the door open so hard is slammed against the wall and bounced back. “Just what the hell is going on here?”

“Oh hell,” Rabiya groaned. “Eavesdropping now, brother?”

He shot her a dark look. “It’s a damn good thing I did too since you were about to let this viper take advantage of you!” He turned to her. “Did you really think this this little plan of yours would work? That I would ever let someone like you get close to my sister, to me?” Shaking his head in disgust, his gaze shot daggers at Charla. “What have you got to say for yourself?”

She looked small in the moment but he didn’t care, not when her lip quivered and certainly not those crocodile tears swimming in her eyes. “Get out,” she said, her voice cold and hard like steel.

He laughed bitterly. “Oh don’t worry about that, we are both out of here.”

“You’ve got this all wrong Kasim, just let me explain.”

He dismissed her words with a slice of his hand through the air. “Don’t bother lying Rabiya, I know what I heard. I can’t believe you Charla, I trusted you.”

“You guys have been seeing each other?”

“No,” Charla answered icily. “ We were having sex. Nothing more.” She stared him down, her green eyes devoid of all emotion.

“Kasim just listen to me for one second,” his sister pleaded but he was beyond that.

“I don’t want to hear it!”

A loud whistle cut the air. “Enough! This is my place of business so if you don’t mind, please get the fuck out!” She picked up the phone to have security sent to her office. “I’ll talk to you soon Rabi.”

“The hell you will!” He took a step forward and stopped when she stepped back. “Stay the hell away from my sister and stay the hell away from me or I will make sure you regret it.”

“Don’t worry. I already do.” She sneered at him just as security arrived to haul him out of the building. Shaking them off, Kasim reached for Rabiya and pulled her along with him, not stopping until they were out on the street.

“You ignorant, stubborn snob! I hate you right now!”

“You’ll thank me later. God Rabiya, you were giving her money and you don’t even care!”

She pounded his chest with her fists until his eyes burned. “You are such a dummy Kasim. She is my friend and I wasn’t giving her money, I was paying her back because unlike you and our parents, she actually believed in me enough to loan me the money!” She shook her head. “You dear supportive brother, couldn’t even be bothered to read my proposal and Mother and Father refused to release even a portion of my trust fund. So after meeting her at the spa, we became friends and one night over drinks I told her everything and she offered to loan me the money. Without interest.”

He paled at his sister’s words, refusing to believe them. “I…I didn’t,”

“Yeah you didn’t because you were so busy trying to prove to the world that you were right about Charla that you might have cost me a good friend. No, a great friend and the only person in my life who believes in me!” She pushed him away, stalking off in a profanity-laced huff.

Kasim was left standing there in front of the spa stunned, while security stared him down from behind the glass doors. Despite their dark looks he tried to go back in to talk to Charla but they refused him.

Angry and confused, Kasim only had one play left. Back to the office and back to work.
