“My papa won’t sit back if he knows I’m here, he’d put—” Adrienne was still talking when a gunshot came from the club. I dragged her down to cover her.

“Fuck.” I took out my .45 from my pocket and cocked it, then looked over at Dimitri. “If anything happens to her, you’re dead.” Then I signaled Mikhail and Isidor to come with me.

“You can’t leave me here,” Adrienne protested. “I’m coming.”

“No, you’re not.”

“Yes, I am.”

“This is not the time to be so damn stubborn, malysh.” I had to take care of her stubbornness after I’d dealt with Dante. “Stay here and keep our baby safe.” I didn’t wait for her retort before I left her.

Dante was sitting on one of my cushions, smoking with a shot of my branded liquor in his hand. Some of my men lay dead on the floor, along with some of his, while the ones alive had their guns pointed at each other.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” I growled with my gun pointed at his head.

“You have something that’s mine, I’ve come to collect it.” His voice was calm yet filled with venom. He blew smoke from his nose.

“Nothing here belongs to you, Dante. Now get the fuck out of my club.”

He laughed hoarsely in a way that irritated my ears. “I’m not leaving without her.”

“Adrienne is not a property, and she is the only reason I haven’t put a bullet in your head yet.” My anger was increasing with every minute and I wasn’t sure how long I’d be able to play the good mafia boss before I pulled the trigger on this asshole.

“Come on, Andrei.” He sipped my liquor. “We both know women are nothing but commodities in my world.”

“Looks like our world needs to evolve then.”

“Women are commodities, just like my mama was?” Adrienne came out from the hallway, pointing a gun at Dante with Dimitri behind her. Dimitri’s eyes met mine apologetically and I understood it wasn’t his fault. Adrienne gets what Adrienne wants.

Dante’s eyes flickered with shock. “You know nothing about your mama.”

“I do know that you killed her,” Adrienne said, returning the chilly calmness in Dante’s voice; she was playing his game with him.

“I didn’t.”

Bang. One of Dante’s men fell to the ground as smoke spilled from the gun Adrienne was holding. His other men pointed their guns at her, but Dante raised a hand, signaling them not to shoot. “Tell another lie, Papa, and I’ll drill another bullet in the head of all your men until there are none left.”

I couldn’t have been prouder of my girl than I was in that moment. I loved badass Adrienne.

“Your mama was sick after she gave birth to you,” Dante explained. “I didn’t fucking kill her.”

Bang. Another Italian man fell to the floor, dead.

“I heard her scream before she died,” Adrienne growled.

Dante sighed furiously. “She had a damn heart attack; I didn’t kill her.”

Adrienne’s eyes glittered with tears, but she did a good job of keeping them from falling. “I won’t return with you; I am getting married to Andrei.”

“You’re crazy, I won’t let you marry that bastard.”

“I am not asking for your permission.” She cocked her gun, pointing it directly at Dante’s heart. “I’m having his baby.”

“You’re just a puttana like your mother was,” Dante cursed. Only a lunatic like him would call his daughter a whore.

Adrienne unloaded two bullets on another two Italians, bringing the number of Dante’s men to three against the twelve I had inside the club. It would be a piece of cake to kill him now if I wanted to. “I am,” Adrienne inclined. “But I am also a killer because you made me one.”

Her hands were shaking and tears were rolling down her cheeks. “From now on, I’m a Levov, not your daughter. If one girl goes missing from this city after tonight, I won’t give a fuck if it’s your doing or not, I’ll put a bullet in your head. If any girl is raped by an Italian, I’ll burn your dirty money to the ground and make sure you have nothing left. Do you understand me?”
