“I swear, you have more faith in me than I have in myself.”

He chuckles and hoists his bag over his shoulder. “Isn’t that part of being your husband? I know you’re going to do great things. Zoe.”

My vision blurs with tears as I walk with Christian through the house and to the garage. “I hope you’re right. I don’t know how I’m going to deal with the nerves, but I’m going to get through it.”

“You’re going to be amazing.” He opens the door to the garage and holds it open for me.

“Thank you.” I walk by the trucks and simple sedans to one of the flashing sports cars on the other side of the garage. “What do you think? I could drive you in this one.”

Christian grabs a set of keys off the rack before tossing it to me. “That one it is. Security team is going to follow behind you to make sure that you get home safely once you’ve dropped me off.”

I nod as I catch the keys before sliding into the sleek lime green car. As I press the button for the garage door, Christian drops his bag into the trunk before sliding in beside me.

The engine roars to life as I twist the key in the ignition.

The drive to the private airport Christian flies from is short and filled with music.

I don’t know how much he paid for the sound system in this car, and I don’t want to know.

The bass pounds, shaking the mirror as I pull into the airport and come to a stop in front of the hangar.

Christian’s plane is sitting there, gleaming in the bright sun.

The pilot stands beside it, scrolling through something on his phone.

Christian leans over the console to kiss me.

“I’m going to miss you,” I say, my vision starting to blur as tears gather. I bite them back and smile as he kisses my forehead. “Have a safe flight and let me know when you get to Georgia.”

He gets out and leans down to look at me. “I promise that I’ll send you a message the moment the plane lands.”

“Good.” I smile and tighten my grip on the wheel, still trying to hold back the tears. “I love you, Christian. Stay safe.”

“I love you too.”

He closes the door and grabs his bag from the trunk before heading for the plane.

The pilot takes the bag from him, and the two men climb the steps into the airplane.

As the door shuts, a lump rises in my throat.

I wait for a moment longer, smiling when his face appears in one of the windows. He winks at me before disappearing.

I take a deep breath and turn the car around, heading back out of the airport and to the main road.

When I glance in the mirror, the security team are following behind me.

The tightness in my chest eases.

Even though Christian says that nobody is going to be coming after us anymore, the entire situation with Demarco has me worried.

I turn up the music, trying to drown out the worries that I still have.

Demarco is dead. The people coming after us are dead. Christian is going to be fine while he’s in Georgia. He’ll be talking business with his friends.

I’m going to be fine at home. Camila is going to stay with me while Christian is gone, and Ruben won’t be far away. Everything is safe.

The only thing I have to worry about is the performance schedule.
