Moonlight streams through the window, illuminating the man from behind as his weight settles over me in the bed.

His thighs bracket my arms, pinning them to my body.

I don’t have a fighting chance.

I’m going to die. There’s nothing I can do to help myself right now. I’m going to die.

“I’m going to take my hand off your mouth, but you’re not going to scream. If you scream, I’m going to have to knock you out, and I really don’t want to hurt you.”

The voice is familiar, but it’s not quite coming to me.

I squint my eyes, trying to see through the darkness, but the man keeps his face in the shadows.

My entire body feels like it’s frozen in place, but my heart is racing.

I have to fight. If I fight, someone might hear me. They might come in and save me.

I start thrashing, though I’m not sure if it will do any good.

With the way the man is sitting on me, I can’t get my arms free.

I try to drive my knee into his back, but I can’t quite bend to do it.

“Damn it, Zoe.” The man reaches over and turns on the bedside light. “I said that I don’t want to hurt you, but I will if I have to.”

His cold and detached tone makes me believe him.

I stop fighting, my vision blurring as I lean back in the pillows. I blink away the tears, looking up at him.

Christian looks down at me, grinning as his thumb drifts over my cheek.

How did he get in here? Why is he doing this to me?

I shouldn’t have kissed him. I know that it’s bad to hook up with strangers. I should have seen this coming.

Nothing good ever comes from kissing strange men in the dark.

Is he going to kill me? Is he going to do something worse?

“Now, I know that this wakeup call is a little rude, but it’s good to see that your bags are packed. I’ve already taken the liberty of taking them to my car. Took a couple of your guitars too. You’re the last thing to go. You can either decide to climb out of the window on your own, or I will knock you out and carry you down.”

I shake my head, hating myself for the rush of heat that floods my core as he shifts lower on my body.

Going to bed with the memory of his hardened cock pressing against me only hours ago proved to be almost impossible. Now, feeling him pressed against me again, I’m wide awake.

My body is buzzing with energy as I stare up at him.

“I’m going to take my hand off your mouth now, and you’re going to make your decision.” Christian starts to pull his hand back, watching for any signs of me screaming.

I know better than to try to scream, though.

He will knock me out and drag me out that window before anyone could get to me. I can see it in the way his dark eyes watch me.

He’s waiting for me to make a mistake—to do something stupid so he can throw his power around.

It’s not going to happen. I’m not going to give him the satisfaction. “I’ll go out the window,” I say, wriggling around beneath him. “Let me up.”

I don’t want to go with him, but there isn’t another option right now.
