“What?” I whispered, unable to move. My heart hammered in my chest as he nodded, gazing at me with distrust. He thinks I did that to Alannah on purpose?

Why would he think that?

“Why are you asking me this?” I clenched my fist by my side, releasing it before clenching it again.

Elizabeth must’ve told him that, and there is only one foul wanker she would’ve heard that from.

AJ West.

“You think I’m amurderer, Tye?”

Tye’s jaw stiffened, his lips pursing as he shrugged.

“Youdon’t know?”I mimicked his movements, my head spinning.

That’s why Elizabeth called Tye and not you.

She thinks you're a murderer.

I closed my eyes, trying to ignore the rage curling through my intestines like a vine, wrapping itself around my heart as it squeezed tight.

“You think I’d do that, Tye?”

Years of friendship depended on his answer. Ringing filled my ears, but I knew it was silent in the room between us until Tye shuffled on his chair.

“I don’t know anymore, Reign. AJ told Lizzie—”

The sound of skin slapping against wood cut through his shitty speech, and I loomed over him, spitting out my words.

“AJsaid? I don’t give afuckwhat thatpricksaid.”

Tye’s breathing picked up, and shame filled his eyes.

Good.

“AJ knowsnothing. Not a damn thing, and if you and Elizabeth want to believe his bullshit, don’t ever speak to me again.”

“He showed her videos.”

My head snapped up, disbelief on my face.

“Well, I’d like to fucking see them too because I didn’t kill anyone on purpose!”

“Of you confessing,” Tye added, grimacing. “Voice recordings, all sorts of shit.”

My eyes twitched at his words, but a coldness laced my voice as I spoke.

“Utter bullshit. I’m not having this conversation with you, Tye. Get the fuck out of my office.”

Tye rose from his seat with a sigh, not bothering to say anything further. It seemed he knew me well enough to fuck off when I told him to, but he didn’t know I’d never willingly hurt a woman?

Years of therapy.

He knew about it all, and here he was, asking me if AJ’s words were true.

“Does Elizabeth believe it too?” I asked bitterly, my eyes boring into his back as he paused at the door, twisting his head so I could see his side profile.

“I think she’s scared, Reign,” Tye said hesitantly. “Maybe you should call her, come see her—”
