I wave it off. “Nothing to thank me for. I just knew the guy’s boss. I think you, Easton, and Gaitley did all the groundwork.”

Asshole had it coming. They’d been tracking Celeste’s ex, Anders, for a while and finally got their payback. He also owed her family a lot of money.

“I’m just glad he got what he deserved.”

“I’m happy for you cuz, for her too.” I give him a chin lift. “I take it you’re officially back on with Celeste?”

He bends to give Sunny a pat. “We’ve been inseparable ever since.”

That makes me happy to see him content after being on his own for so long, and after what Celeste has been through recently.

“You deserve it,” I say. He’s a good man, always has been.

“Thanks, cuz.”

“We’re going down to Moose’s bar tonight if you want to come down for a drink?”

“Sounds good. Have you seen Gabe yet?”

I sigh. “Only briefly last night. He barely said two words.”

“He was pretty fucking intense at that dinner.” He puffs out his cheeks at the memory.

I see no one’s forgotten about our little spat at the family dining table. I guess it’s pretty hard to forget, being Mom and Dad’s special night.

“You know Gabe, he’ll simmer eventually. And he has to, because I’m here for good.”

Callan smiles. “No prizes for guessing where you’re headed?”

A grin spreads across my face. “That obvious?”

“Only to those who’ve known you a long time. You do the same thing every time you’re here, cuz.”

“Touché.” I chuckle. “I guess I do.”

“I bet you’ve got the plans all drawn up ready to go?”

He knows me well, I’ll give him that. “Yeah, I’ve had the drawings for a while. I’m gonna meet with the contractor soon and start building when my divorce is settled.”

One less headache out of the way will be good.

“How’s all that going?” he asks.

“We’re not on speaking terms, so not good,” I sigh. “It’s just working out the finer details, the house, money, stuff like that.”

“Messy business,” he says. “I guess once it’s finalized, you can move on for real.”

“That’s the plan.”

“You know I’m here when you need it for your house,” he says. “Cabinetry, anything you need a hand with.”

“Thanks cuz, appreciate it.” We clasp hands and I give him a one-armed hug. He’s offered numerous times to help with the house, as has Hudson, who’s also a jack of all trades. I’m not sure how either would find the time in their busy schedules, but so be it.

I’ll take all the help I can get.

“We’ll be at Moose’s at seven if you decide to come.”

“I’ll be there.” He gives me a chin lift.
