“The fence is ten fucking feet high,” Zane pointed out needlessly. “Plus, there’s also barbed wire camouflaged in the spires.”

“I didn’t say that he wasn’t a bloody mess,” Dash drawled out.

“He’s…Killian’s here?” I mean, I heard him, but I just couldn’t believe it.

“He’s outside,” Dash confirmed. “What do you want us to do?”

“Say the word and we’ll let Crew send him on his way,” Zane offered.

“Whatever you decide, you better do it before Lennon finds out that he’s here, Posie,” Dash advised. Everyone was in the backyard, being themselves. Uncle Deke, Aunt Delaney, Lennon, Eden, Crew, Athena, Scarlett, and Camden were all out back with the kids, and Dash wasn’t wrong. If Lennon decided to go off the rails with Killian’s unannounced visit, then that would set Crew off, and no one needed Crew Marlow losing his shit.

“I’ll…uhm…I’ll go see what he wants,” I said, trying not to panic.

“Not without one of us, you’re not,” Zane stated.

“Zane, it’s fine-”

“Posie, the fucker jumped the fence,” Dash reminded me. “He doesn’t get to do that without one of us knocking him the fuck out. Do you honestly think Dad’s going to take kindly to him pretty much trespassing on his property?”

“Yeah, you know how he is with Mom,” Zane added.

I looked between the two brothers. “Oh, yeah, because your dad is the only unhinged male in the family,” I snorted.

“Where do you think we get it from?” Zane remarked acceptingly.

Ignoring them both, I hurried my way to the front door. When I yanked it open, a slightly wounded Killian Warrick was standing on the steps of the Marlow house.

“Jesus Christ,” I swore. “What in the hell are you doing here, Killian?”

“What the fuck do you think?” he bit out. “I’m here to take you the fuck home.”

My eyes widened with that, but my heart was thumping painfully in my chest. I’d seen this movie before, but I never thought it’d be my story, too. I never thought a man would put so much effort into fighting for me like this. I was such a mess, and I had so much baggage that the weight would send most people to their knees.

“You broke into Deke Marlow’s house-”

“I did not break in,” he argued. “I simply jumped the fence.”

“Do you think this family cares about semantics?” I hissed, trying to keep my voice low. “And even if Uncle Deke might think that you’re a little too young to put his hands on, he has three sons who are in the perfect age range to handle this…this insanity.”

“I don’t give a fuck,” he snapped. “I’m not leaving without you, Posie.”

“Well, that’s debatable,” came a dark voice.

I jumped in surprise before turning to see a sight that no one should ever want to see. Walking out from behind the metal gate near the garage were Uncle Deke, Dash, Crew, Zane, and Lennon Marlow. Looking at the group, there was no denying that they were all related. They all had ink-black hair, demon-green eyes, and they all walked and moved like they were invincible.

I looked over at Killian as they got closer, and all he did was straighten his back, not taking his eyes off the fivesome. Even though it was Zane who had spoken, everyone here knew that it was Lennon that was the problem. Sure, Uncle Deke might be pissed that someone climbed his fence to trespass on his property, but Lennon…well, everyone knew that Lennon was a whole other kind of creature.

When the grouped stopped only a few feet away from us, Lennon asked, “What are you doing here, Killian?”

“I’m here to take Posie home,” he answered, staring her straight in the eye. “And I’m not leaving without her.”

Well, you had to give the man credit for having some pretty big balls.

“How did you know that she was here?” Lennon asked.

“I’m not stupid,” he replied. “It’s not too hard to find people these days if you try hard enough.”

Lennon’s head tilted a bit, a smirk on her face. “Tell the Benettis hello for me, will ya.”
