“Go after her,” he tells me.

“She might just need some space,” Davis argues, but Ash shakes his head.

“You’re going to drive yourself crazy. Go after her. Ask her what she needs. If it’s space, then sure, give it to her. If it’s not and she’s having doubts, then fight for her. Make her see that you’re meant to be,” he advises me, and I nod.

“I like his way better,” I tell Davis, and he snorts.

“Okay, go get your girl. We’ll deal with this.”

“Thanks,” I say, clapping him on the back.

I run into the house and grab my keys. The whole way, my bear is screaming at me to go faster. I grind my teeth together, trying to ignore him as I sprint to my truck and climb in.

I peel out of my driveway and head down to Davis’ house. I’m assuming that that’s where they went. When I pull up out front and see Cameron’s car, I let out a sigh of relief.

I dry my hands on my jeans as I climb out of my truck and hurry over to the front door. I have to knock a few times before the door finally opens, and my heart breaks when I see my mate’s tear-stained face.

My bear snarls inside of me, wanting to destroy anything that made our mate cry. I’m fully on board with that plan.

“Frankie, what’s wrong?” I ask, trying to pull her into my arms, but she steps back.

“What are you doing here?” She asks me, and I frown.

“I came to check on you.”

“I’m fine,” she says quickly.

“Clearly.”

She scowls at me, and my bear swipes at me in annoyance.

“I came to bring you home,” I tell her.

She looks away from me as more tears fall on her cheeks. Seeing her cry is killing me, and I fist my fingers into my palms. I want to pummel whoever made her hurt like this.

“Why did you leave?” I ask her, stepping closer to her.

“The threat is gone,” she says quietly, and my heart cracks in my chest.

Was she only with me because of the danger that she was in? Was she using me?

“What about us? You’re mine. You’re meant to be with me,” I say, almost desperately.

“Stop, Gunner,” she cries, and I rock back on my heels. “Just stop! I know you regret sleeping with me, and I think it’s best if you just?—”

“What the hell did you just say?” I roar, and she stares at me in shock.

“You regret,” she starts again, but I cut her off.

“I don’t regret one second I spent with you, Frankie.”

Her mouth drops open and I frown, wondering how the hell she got that impression. My bear paws at me, not caring. He just wants me to fix it and bring her home.

We will, buddy,I promise him.

Then I turn all of my attention to my crazy mate.
