Nicky kissed my cheek. “I’m really happy for you, Luca. I’ll text Luna and tell her we’re good, but I’m not going to hide anything for you. I’m not going to make an announcement or anything, but I won’t lie if someone asks me. You deserve to be more than a secret.”

I was relieved that Luna thought so too. It took her some time to get there, but now everyone knew.

I swung my arm over Nicky’s shoulders and continued around the next corner. Might as well go for some extra honesty about some things, since I couldn’t tell her the order of events. “I didn’t think so at the beginning. I mean, Luna is ridiculously out of my league.”

Nicky whacked me playfully on the chest. “You’re in exactly the same league. You’re cute as a button and lots of people would find that irresistible. Luna included, obviously.”

She had switched over to happy playfulness, and that was a huge relief.

“Thanks. So we’re good?”

Nicky gave me a cheeky smile. “Yeah. As long as you don’t have sex on my couch again.”

Heat rushed to my cheeks at the memory of the whole pack walking in. “Oh god. I’m still so sorry about that.”

“As you should be.” Nicky laughed. “There’s no world in which I want to see your butt. It was cute when you were little and streaking around the backyard, but not so much now.”

I laughed, mumbling out, “Luna thinks my butt is cute.”

Nicky shoved her fingers in her ears. “La la la la la!”

I wrestled her arms down, laughing. “I’m sorry. I’ll stop.”

“You’d better.” Nicky nudged me.

We rounded another corner and I switched topics away from Luna and me to the impending life-changing circumstances my sister now found herself in. “So, baby time?”

“Yep. Double baby time. Hopefully triple.”

Mom was going to have a field day with all of those kids. “That’s cool. You’ll be a good mom.” I had no doubt that any babies coming into the pack would be swimming in a ridiculous amount of love and attention.

“You’re a few years behind me on that schedule, but is that something you and Luna have talked about?”

“Ummm, not really.” I knew that Luna didn’t want children of her own, but loved her nieces. She was afraid of marriage and bonding, and having children was an even bigger commitment. “Luna has a lot more wine-aunt vibes than a mom.”

“You’d be happy not to have kids? I’m not asking to pressure you one way or the other. I just wanna make sure you’re not setting aside something you want without even having a conversation about it.”

“I’m not particularly attached to the idea of having kids. I’m pretty sure between you, your pack, and Allie, I’m not going to have a shortage of niblings to dote on. I think I’ll be happy being a cool uncle.”

“Good.” Nicky laced our hands together and smacked a kiss onto the back of mine. “Our babies will be lucky to have you.”

“I sure hope so.”

Nicky messaged Luna while we walked. As we paused back in front of the house, Nicky looked wistfully at me. “I love you.”

I pulled her into a hug. “I love you, too.”

“Let’s grab some ice cream. It’s way too hot out here.”

I followed Nicky into the kitchen where we scooped ourselves some vanilla ice cream and doused the top of it with the sweet maple balsamic glaze we had all lived for growing up. It was the perfect taste of childhood. I was no longer worried about my sister hating Luna or me, and I knew she had bigger things to worry about with her pregnancy.

At least now we could move forward. Everyone important to us knew about Luna, Nicky was no longer mad, and in a few months’ time I was going to be an uncle. I would have to make sure that Nova and Rory didn’t feel overshadowed by the new babies arriving. They wouldn’t be spending time together, but Luna loved them so I loved them, and I was going to make sure all of my niblings knew it.

My phone buzzed.

What witchcraft did you work on Nicky?
