Luca:

I was too adorable for her to stay mad at

Sunshine:

Okay, I know you’re actually too cute to be mad at, but really, what did you do?

Luca:

I basically told her everything minus a few things that would piss her off

I had to be vulnerable but now she knows I love you

Sunshine:

I love you too

Thank you for smoothing things over

Luca:

Anything for you

Multiple notifications popped up on my phone for a handful of platforms and I stared at them, realizing they felt so strange to look at because I never thought I would see them.

Luna Barlow has marked you as being in a relationship with them. Click here to confirm and apply to your profile.

I hit the button with trembling fingers and opened the first account to see a flood of congratulatory comments on the post. Her profile picture was of the two of us from our trip to the hot springs.

Sunshine:

Turn around

I spun on my heel and saw her standing in the park. Her hair was pulled into low pigtails, and she wore a pink-and-white checkered dress, with strappy sandals on her feet. Beans lost his shit and pulled toward her. She kneeled down with a laugh and gave his ears a thorough scratch. Bagel bowled her straight over, licking all over her face while she laughed in the grass.

She reached a flailing hand from between the dogs and I helped her sit up, nudging the two of them off her.

“What are you doing here?” I kneeled in front of her, clutching her cheeks between my hands.

“I wanted to see your face when I broke the final rule. Do you like it?”

“Like it? I never thought I’d see the day. I love it. I need a picture of us for my profiles.”

Beans jumped on her again and Bagel took the opportunity to help, flattening her back into the grass once more. I pulled out my phone and lay by her side, snapping possibly my favorite photo ever: the two of us surrounded by green grass and excitable dogs, an absolutely rapturous smile on Luna’s face.

“Got it.”

“I’m gonna be suffocated by dogs!” She wrapped her arms around Beans and pressed him to her chest, but that didn’t calm him down one bit, only encouraging him to wiggle happily at the extra attention. “Beany boy, chill out.”

Bagel let out a howl, prancing around us.

“It’s only the start of our walk,” I said. “The chill comes after a couple of hours of playing fetch.”

“Get a move on, then.” Luna nudged Beans off and I hurled the tennis ball as hard as I could, both dogs racing after it.

I took our moment of peace to kiss her. “I didn’t think I would like a public claiming this much.”

“I figure it’s a classier way of marking my territory than peeing on you.”
