Class is at 7:30

Wear tight fitting clothes and nothing with zippers or slippery fabric

Luca:

Yes ma’am :)

The rest of my shift went by agonizingly slowly now that I knew Luna awaited me at the end of it. I was by myself over the dinner stretch until the evening staff arrived. Cleaning helped the time go by marginally faster, and the moment they arrived to relieve me I was out the door, dashing home to find something suitable to wear for class before heading to the studio.

I made it to class with about thirty seconds to spare, my body tight with anxiety over being late. Luna beamed at me when she saw me and directed me toward my own set of silks.

“You made it! One of my regular students had to miss tonight last-minute so I had an open spot. Seemed silly to let it go to waste. I’ll come by after I get everyone started on the trick for this week.”

Allie waved excitedly to me from her own silks. I’d completely forgotten that she’d mentioned starting classes with Luna. Once Luna got everyone else on the silks to practice their new move, she came back over to me and showed me some basic holds and how to climb the silks.

“You’re okay with me being here when Allie’s here?” I whispered as Luna adjusted my foot grip.

“I told her you were on a waitlist for the class to try it out because your boss at the gym was interested in integrating some new classes.”

“So she knows we’re talking?”

“Sort of? Just about this. Keep holding.” Luna diverted to the other students to check how they were all doing. “Luca, Janine is tangled. Could we borrow your height for a minute?”

I dropped to the floor and trotted over, seeing a petite beta stuck upside down. “What should I do?”

“Janine, Luca’s going to lift you a bit to relieve the tension in the silks and I’ll untangle you, okay?”

“Hurry up. I’m gonna hurl” was Janine’s response.

“Shoulders,” Luna commanded. “Lift me up.”

I dropped into a squat and she swung her legs over my shoulders so I could stand back up and use my arms to push Janine into the air a bit while Luna tugged at the silks.

“There we go.” Luna handed the silks to Janine. “Sit back up and get your legs down. No more tangles.”

I held Janine as she maneuvered around, a relieved smile on her face when she kicked her legs and the silks fell free, letting her slide to the floor.

“My hero!” Janine beamed at me.

I lowered Luna and myself back down and she hopped off. “This is a good reminder for everyone to go slow and to what?”

“Never do silks alone,” the class chorused.

“Exactly. Take a break if you need, and then, everyone, back up on the silks.”

“What do you do for stuff like that if I wasn’t here?” I asked, climbing back into position.

“Two options,” Luna replied. “We have a giant mat that comes to my chest height, or we have a ladder. But having a tall person is definitely faster.”

She gave me a few minutes of private instruction before making her rounds again, correcting and adjusting the other students as they figured out how to do an inverted hanging position. Allie looked happy as a clam as she whipped the silks around and hung upside down.

My arms were jelly by the time class was over. Between this and pole, I wasn’t even going to be able to lift my arms, but I could already feel them getting stronger.
