“This is Maci Williams and she’s mine,” he growled, and I couldn’t help but lock eyes with him, my adoration for him written all over my face.

“Nikolaos,” I breathed, and he pulled me in close.

“I love you,” he said softly enough so that only I could hear, and in an instant, a warm feeling ricocheted through me at his pronouncement.

This night couldn’t be any more perfect.

“I love you too,” I whispered, and his grin nearly split his face in two.

“Come now. It’s time for me to show you off,” he declared, and he took my arm and led me forward.

I was giddy with happiness as he guided me inside.

My mind reeled from his profession. Could he really feel that way? Instinctively, I knew that it was true. Nikolaos had never lied to me, and that was one of the things that I liked most about him.

Pulling my shoulders back, I took a deep breath. It was time to dive into his world with him at my side.

And I couldn’t wait.

CHAPTER 21

Nikolaos

The sight of her took my breath away.

She was more than just beautiful; she was a vision, radiant and captivating, absolutely the most stunning thing I’d ever laid my eyes on. The deep blue of her gown highlighted the unique color of her eyes, making them sparkle with the same intensity that had drawn me to her in the first place. She carried herself with grace, and she was the most gorgeous thing on the red carpet.

There was no question about it.

As we walked into the charity ball, I couldn’t ignore the eyes of other men on her. Their gazes were lingering a tad too long for my liking and I couldn’t shake it off.

How dare they lay eyes on what’s mine?

I felt an unfamiliar twinge in my chest, a tightening that I didn’t recognize, at least not at first. As we moved through the crowd and my gaze caught other men leering at my Maci, a primal urge to tear them apart simmered just underneath the surface, and the sudden need to claim her more thoroughly thundered through me.

Acting on impulse, I slid my hand from her back to her waist, pulling her subtly yet firmly closer to my side. The message was clear: she was mine, and I was not willing to share even a glance.

When I reached a more visible spot, where the lights from the cameras and chandeliers shone brighter, I stopped and turned to face her. Without a word, I leaned in and kissed her. My lips moved against hers with a certainty and ownership that left no room for doubt who she belonged to. She kissed me back just as fervently, almost like she was laying claim to me too, and I couldn’t help but lightly nip her lower lip to remind her who was in charge.

Her quiet whimper immediately made my cock rock hard, and suddenly the image of her writhing over my lap with my fingers between her thighs flashed before my eyes, and I growled, the sound low and steady in the back of my throat.

As our lips parted, I could feel the weight of the crowd’s eyes on us, but none of that mattered. All that mattered was the woman in my arms.

That she belonged to me.

That no one else would ever touch her again.

And that I was the only one that would ever see what was underneath her beautiful dress.

Right now, I’d much prefer to have her back in my bed, writhing underneath me as she took my cock in that sweet little pussy like a good little girl, but I wanted her to be more than just my little fuck toy. I wanted her on my arm.

Permanently.

I hadn’t meant to tell her I loved her. It had just come out, and now I wouldn’t take it back for the world.

Her response to those words, the emotion in her eyes, only cemented my resolve. She was meant to be with me, and I was ready for everyone to see and respect the powerful bond we shared.

I guided Maci through the crowd, my hand at the small of her back. My fingers glanced against her bare skin, and a powerful shiver raced down her spine. I loved that I had that effect on her. When I glanced down, her arms were covered with gooseflesh, and I smiled with delight, leaning in close to her as I pulled her to the dance floor.
