“Yeah. It was simple.”
“Did you train in medicine?”
“Nope. I am a mechanic.”
Xeva’s shock must have shown.
Quin laughed and patted her shoulder. “I went through medical school with a focus in obstetrics and gynecology. Being the flying midwife is fun. For longer distances, I ride a dragon.”
Xeva asked, “Can you show me how?”
“Sure. Do you want to start now?”
Xeva smiled. “Please. What should we start with?”
Quin got up and walked toward the water. “A leviathan is always good, but you need to figure out what you are comfortable with. How about a cat or a dog?”
Quin held out her hand, and a huge cat appeared. It wasn’t a lion or tiger but something about myth and legend.
“Like that.”
Xeva nodded and focused. A similar cat appeared.
Quin grinned and climbed onto the cat. Xeva did the same with hers, and she watched how Quin’s beast moved. She got hers doing the same. When they were moving around each other, Quin grinned. “Do you want to run?”
Xeva nodded.
Quin laughed. “Then, let’s run.” She turned her beast toward the coastline and hung on. Xeva laughed and was right behind her.

Revakka watched her son’s fiancé learn how to relax and enjoy herself. It was wonderful to see. In a few days she had gained so much and knew that her husband would have loved to welcome all these women into their home. Their island was rich with actives for the first time. Their family had been the largest node on the island, but by accepting those girls into their homes and hearts, they had gained protection and wealth for all the people living there.
Jeron had chosen a really good woman, and in doing so, he had improved the lives of everyone they knew. It was relaxing to know that the future was in good hands. The daughters of the island were an unstoppable force, and they belonged to those who had given them safety and comfort. A compassionate army.
It was all Revakka had ever wanted.
