Angie was quiet for a few minutes. She felt as though a huge tug of war was happening inside of her. She wanted, more than anything, to give a relationship a chance. The thought of making a life with Noah was so tempting.

However, Angie was a realist. People’s hatred for others didn’t change easily, especially when they were grounded in centuries of prejudices. The thought of going back and forth between the two worlds was overwhelming.

Noah stared out over the yard, giving her time to think about what he said.

“I’ll go, but with conditions,” she said finally.

“What are they?”

“First, Apollo comes with me,” Angie said, absently scratching her dog’s head between the ears.

“Of course. You two are a package deal, and I would never dream of trying to break you up. Actually, I was thinking of adding someone else to the mix. I really liked Rufus.”

“He seemed to like you, too. I think he would love being your fur baby,” Angie said, smiling.

“Your other conditions?”

“Until we get everything figured out, I want my own place. If we decide that we care enough about each other to weather the storm and if the people accept me as a pack member and their luna, then we can live under one roof.”

“That is doable,” he said. “Any other conditions?”

“I can come and go as I please, between worlds and in the shifter world. Flora can also come and go freely.”

“I agree to your terms.”

Angie still hesitated. For the first time in her life, she was terrified. If she agreed to move to the shifter world, her life would change. She was also risking a devastating broken heart.

But what if you both fall in love with each other? What if the pack members accept you? Life is about taking risks, Baby Girl.

Angie heard her mother’s voice as clearly as if Naomi was sitting next to her.

“I’ll go.”

Noah smiled and threw his arms around Angie. “Awesome. Can we leave in the morning, just to get you settled?”

“Yes. I’ll have to make some phone calls, but we can leave in the morning.”

Betsy and Thomas arrived at the same time the pizza did. Angie and Noah rushed over to help. If looks could kill, Noah would have been dead on the spot. Betsy and Thomas made their opinions of Noah obvious.

While they were eating, Angie said, “I’m going to the shifter world to test the waters. Noah and I care about each other and he is willing to risk upsetting the pack. I’ll be back to the human world often.”

Betsy growled. Thomas said, “If you or anyone else hurts her, alpha or not, I will pull your arms and legs off and feed them to pigs.”

“Understood,” Noah said.

Angie and Betsy smirked because she knew that Thomas would do just that.

Noah

After dinner, Angie, Apollo, and Noah went outside to take a walk.

“What does the pack think about you spending so much time in the human world lately?” Angie asked.

“They are curious. I think a few want to know what is so important about you that I would chase after you. My father thinks that I needed to bring you back caveman style.”

“Throw me over your shoulder like a sack of potatoes?”
