“No.” Angie laughed.

“So, is it because she would feel like a third wheel, she’s shy, or because I’m the alpha?” Noah asked.

“D. All of the above.”

They went back to her apartment after dinner and hung out. When it got late, Noah kissed her and left. Angie sat on the balcony and stared at the stars. She thought about Noah and how she felt when he held her. She loved being with him.

“Did I make a mistake?” she asked herself. “Should I have told him ‘no’ and not risk the heartache?”

Angie was shocked the next morning when Anna, Noah’s mother, called her. “I would love to take you and Apollo to lunch today. I know a charming café, with outdoor seating two blocks away from your apartment.”

I’m not ready to meet his mother, Angie’s mind screamed.

Her mouth moved a little as she tried to figure out what to say. Then, she decided that it was bound to happen eventually. It was better sooner than later.

“That sounds nice,” Angie said.

Anna was very nice. She asked Angie about her life in the human world and seemed to be very interested in all of the different charities that she was involved in. Anna told her that they had food banks and similar charities in the shifter world.

“Really, the two worlds are very similar, except that shifters didn’t have to hide who they were in the shifter world and there are no hunters.”

“That’s a good thing,” Anna said.

Angie liked Anna. She was sweet and very easy to talk to.

I wonder if she would be so nice if she knew that I wasn’t a shifter?

Angie went grocery shopping. Noah popped in at the same time as he did before.

“I’m making some Cajun wraps,” Angie announced. “I met your mother today.”

“She told me she was going to call you. How did it go?”

“It went well. She was very sweet. I liked her. I just wonder if she would be as nice to me if she knew that I wasn’t a shifter.”

“I think she would. It would take her a while to get over the shock, but she would accept you,” Noah said. “Mom is pretty easygoing.”

“You’re dad, not so much.”

“I’m not going to lie and tell you otherwise. He might have to be put in his place a couple of times, but he’ll figure it out or he won’t.”

“I told Carolyn. She was shocked but said she had my back.”

“I can’t imagine her standing up to a moth,” Noah said.

“It’s the quiet ones you have to watch out for,” Angie reminded him. “I get the feeling that once Carolyn decides that she likes someone, she’ll be very loyal and protective.”

They sat down to watch a movie together. Noah put his arm around Angie and she scooted close to him. She looked up at him and he captured her lips with his.

Their clothes seemed to disappear and Angie straddled Noah. She lowered herself onto him. He put his hands on her ass, and she rose up until he was barely inside of her and then she lowered herself back town. Her breasts were pressed against his chest. Bolts of electricity exploded inside of her as her nipples rubbed against him.

“Noah. Oh, lord,” she breathed in his ear.

Her heart thundered in her chest and she panted as she caressed his shaft with her silken walls. He moaned, his lips pressed against her neck.

A raging fire consumed her and she started to shake.

“That’s right, Baby,” he said.
