Angie exploded over him.

“Yes. That’s my girl,” he said. His body shook as his cock throbbed and he sent a geyser of hot seed inside of her.

They clung to each other for a few minutes and then Noah said, “Well, we have the couch broke in. I guess it’s the dining table next.”

Later that night, while alone in bed, she stared at the ceiling. Noah was an amazing man. Her heart beat a little faster each time she saw him and butterflies danced in her stomach. She looked forward to seeing him and was excited when walked through the door. Was this love?

Noah

Noah and Angie went for a walk in the nearby forest. He stayed in human form and they walked hand in hand through the trees. Apollo and Rufus ran a little way ahead and then came back.

“I love being in nature. You know, the trees, grass, and even the wind will talk to you if you listen,” Angie said.

“I do know,” Noah said. “I always come out here when I need peace, need to think, or just because. If I could, I would spend more time here than anywhere else.”

“Your office is in a cave in the woods,” Angie said.

“True, but it has been upgraded so much that it really is no different than being in the city. We have electricity when we need it. We get the internet via satellite. People are constantly coming and going.”

“I thought that when you sent your goons to come get me that one day,” Angie said.

“I don’t think that Elijah or Keith would like being referred to as goons.”

“They tried to act intimidating. I think it was Elijah who told me that I couldn’t bring Apollo. I told him if Apollo didn’t come then neither would I.”

“Hmm. I’ll have to tell them to watch their approach the next time I send them on a diplomatic mission.”

“Is that what it was? A diplomatic mission?” Angie grinned.

“In a way. The purpose of the meeting was to form an alliance.”

Angie groaned. “You have the most unromantic way of describing a situation.”

“Thank you. I’ve been practicing.”

After a minute, Noah said, “Elijah reminded me this morning that our pack gala was happening on Saturday. I would like it very much if you would come with me.”

“My parents told me about the galas and how much they loved going. It’s one of the things they missed,” Angie said. “They also told me that if an unmarried alpha took a woman to the gala as a date, then it was practically a betrothal announcement. Are you sure that you are ready for that type of reaction?”

“Yeah. It is known that we were supposed to go through the mating ceremony together and that you turned me down, so people will think that you changed your mind. I really don’t think that anyone will ask either of us about it. If anyone does ask or say anything, I’ll shut them down.”

“I’m not sure it’s a good idea. If I go with you, then it could make things difficult when they find out I’m not a shifter.”

“I’ll deal with it. I would really like you to go. Not only do I enjoy your company, but if you don’t go with me, I will have to go alone again. That means that I will be forced to fight off all of the single women who want to be the next luna.”

“Now I understand. You just want me to go with you to protect you.”

“Damn straight.”

Angie laughed and said, “I’ll go. I think it will be fun.”

“Do you want me to take you shopping so you can find a dress?”

“No. Carolyn and I’ll go shopping together so I can make sure she finds something that flatters her. If I don’t find anything here, I can just pop back into the human world and grab one of my stand-by dresses. I’ll let you know what color my dress is in plenty of time for you to get me a suitable corsage.”

Laughing, he said, “I can always get a white one. It matches everything.”
