While they were dancing, Angie went to the restroom. When she came out, a woman with brown hair was staring at her. Angie could see the steam practically coming off her head.

“Hello,” Angie said. She stepped around the woman and started washing her hands.

“What in the hell do you think you are doing?”

“I just peed so now I’m washing my hands. It’s what civilized folks do,” Angie said.

“That’s not what I’m talking about, Stupid.”

“Then what in the world are you talking about?” Angie asked.

“Why are you here with Noah?”

“He asked me,” Angie said.

“You need to just take yourself back to the human world and stay there. I’m Selena. My grandfather, Elder Cyrus, is arranging for Noah and me to go through the mating ceremony, and I don’t want your sloppy seconds,” the woman said.

“How nice for you,” Angie replied. “I will go back to the human world when I am ready to return. If Noah chooses to go through the mating ceremony with you, then that’s on him. More power to him. He hasn’t said a word to me about going through the mating ceremony with anyone else. Until he does, then I will be with Noah.”

A wolf’s paw suddenly formed at the end of the woman’s arm and she slashed at Angie. Four deep gashes appeared on Angie’s face and arm.

Angie stared at the woman in disbelief. She glared back as though daring Angie to do something.

She came toward Angie, who lifted up her knee and nailed the woman hard in the stomach.

“I don’t care who you think you are or who you think you will be, you don’t put your hands on me.”

Angie washed her face and arm trying to stop the bleeding. After a few minutes, it had slowed quite a bit. Angie checked her dress but didn’t see any blood stains on it. She shoved the wheezing woman aside as she left the bathroom.

Carolyn was heading toward the restroom and ran into Angie.

She gasped and asked, “What happened?”

Angie told her.

“Elder Cyrus’ granddaughter is Selena. She’s had a thing for Noah since she could walk. You have to tell him what happened.”

“I’ll have to tell him something. It’s not like I can hide the gashes on my face and arm,” Angie said.

“You should go to the hospital and get stitches on those,” Carolyn said.

“Not a chance. Stitches would ruin my complexion.” Angie saw the worried look on Carolyn’s face and said, “I promise, they aren’t that bad. They aren’t anything that a little witch hazel and vitamin E can’t handle.”

Carolyn didn’t look convinced, but didn’t argue the point. “You had better watch your back. Selena is one of the meanest people I’ve ever met. She will find a way to hurt you, even if you do become the luna.”

“Thank you for dancing with me,” Carolyn said.

“My pleasure. You dance extremely well. You should be on the dance floor all of the time.”

“My mother taught me how to dance. She loved dancing,” Carolyn said. “If she hadn’t broken her leg last week, I know that she and Daddy would be here tearing up the floor.”

“Give her my best wishes,” Noah said.

He glanced around the room.
