“I guess I got in the habit of always going to Howlers’,” Zac said. “Besides, I have to support my fellow pack members. This place is owned by a mundane human, who is great, but isn’t a wolf shifter.”

Suddenly, a familiar perfume hit Zac’s nose, and he looked up with a silent groan.

“Hi, Zac,” Tami said, standing a little too close to him.

She looked over at Olivia and said, “I’m Tami. I’m Zac’s personal assistant. I take care of everything that he needs.”

The way she said the words gave the impression that she did more than take care of his professional needs.

Olivia didn’t blink an eye. She simply held out her hand and said, “Olivia. Pleased to meet you.”

“Zac and I’ve been working closely together for a very long time,” Tami said, resting her hand on Zac’s shoulder.

He casually shrugged it off. Tami glanced at him and smiled.

“I’m sure you are a wonderful assistant and do a great job,” Olivia said, awkwardly.

“Oh, I do. Where are you from?” Tami asked.

“Up north,” Olivia said.

“What brings you to Angel’s Creek?”

“Just exploring the country,” Olivia replied.

“I see,” Tami said. “How long are you planning on hanging out?”

“It was good to see you, Tami,” Zac interrupted. “Please, excuse us.”

“See you tomorrow,” Tami cooed at him.

She glared at Olivia before she pranced back to her table.

Zac looked over at Olivia and could see that she was struggling to hide her smirk.

“What?” he asked.

“I think your personal assistant has a thing for you,” Olivia said. “She certainly wanted me to think that she took care of your very personal needs.”

He shivered as though the thought repulsed him and grimaced. “You think? I’ve been looking for a replacement before things get too weird at the office,” Zac said. “I think things just got too weird.”

Olivia just grinned at him.

Zac took her back to her hotel room after cherry cheesecake for dessert.

“You know, I have a big house with extra rooms. You could stay there with no strings attached. I’ll even make you breakfast every morning,” Zac offered.

Olivia looked as though she was thinking about it. Then, she said, “I appreciate the offer. I will consider it. I never make on the spot decisions.”

“Fair enough,” Zac said.

He knew that if he pushed the issue, she would push back, just like he would do. He honestly didn’t even know what made him offer a room to Olivia. It just kind of slipped out of his mouth. Zac didn’t want to rescind the offer, though.

Tami was in the office before he was the next morning. He sat down and took out some names of potential replacements. Allison and Xavier were two possibilities. He made a mental note to talk to them soon.

“It looked like you and Olivia were having a good time last night,” Tami said, setting a cup of coffee down on his desk.

“I like her a lot. I’m looking forward to seeing where the relationship goes,” Zac said.
