Red locked with blue. Something sizzled between us because I squealed my excitement at seeing him, and he… he had me against the rough bark of a tree before I could even blink, using his enhanced speed to reach me.

I released a surprised yelp when Eon’s warm lips crushed mine. He pressed himself closer to me, and my lips parted in a gasp when I felt how hot his body was. He took advantage of my reaction and slipped his tongue into my mouth.

I closed my eyes and made another sound of delight, wrapping my thin arms around his thick neck and pulling him closer, feeling his big tongue everywhere in my mouth. He almost devoured me, urgent and desperate as if he hadn’t seen me for alongtime, and I was happy to bask in his affection. His hands werescorchingyet I wasn’t hurting. One hand was resting at the curve of my back below my waist while the other was at the back of my head, buried in my hair and pushing me to him.

So lost in his hot touch and his soft lips and the thudding of my heart that I didn’t notice the hand behind my neck moving to my left ear until it was too late. It was when he brushed a finger along my pointy ear, with slight pressure, that I melted against him with a whine. He held me tighter, leaning until his towering frame was slumped over me.

Eon adjusted me, and I didn’t understand why until it happened. My pointy ears curled, and my breath caught in my throat when his hips pushed against mine. His need for me was bold and loud, demanding my attention, demanding my response.

Heat rushed under my skin. It buzzed and swelled until all thoughts escaped me and all I could feel was him. I burned all over, and the tingles andneedI felt made my legs squeeze around his hips as my arms tightened around his neck. I panted into his mouth, rubbing against his hard, heated body because his touch made bliss bubble inside me.

“You missed me,” I gasped, arching into him with my fingers buried in his hair to hold him to me.

“So much that it hurt,” he murmured against my lips, voice rougher and deeper. He stroked my ears with his thumbs, and I whined with a shudder rattling me, threatening to shut all senses.

I shook my head, eyes blurring from the heat he poured into me. “Enough.”

Eon listened to me. He stopped and retreated, still holding me close to him. He buried his nose in my hair as he put me down, and I gave myself a moment to calm my heart and cool my skin.

Huffing, I pushed Eon’s chest away from me with a grin. I must have caught him off guard because he stumbled back a few steps with a shocked look.

“Caught you off guard, Spider,” I teased, then sprinted away from him before he could catch me.

I ran into the forest in his land even though it seemed more like a maze. Silence roared all around me, darkness stretching its fingers to every corner despite the moon beginning to rise.

Too silent.

On cautious feet, I moved quietly, eyes searching through the calm darkness for any signs of Eon. Not a leaf stirred except for the soft rustling of my feet disturbing the grass. Turning my head back revealed he wasn’t behind me either.

Either he didn’t follow me, or Eon was too good at hiding.

Frowning, I took a step forward when a body dropped from above and grabbed me. I squealed, winding my legs around Eon’s waist and reaching up for his neck as he spun us around. Laughter bubbled up my throat as I held him tighter.

“Stop! Put me down!” I giggled, and he listened to me once more, backing me against a tree trunk—again—as he bent over me and nuzzled my neck. He placed a soft kiss on the arch of my throat, moving my hair to my right shoulder to expose more skin.

Eon ran his nose along the side of my neck, and I tilted my head, squirming a little as his soft hair tickled my skin. His arms imprisoned me as his warm lips kissed my head, my forehead, my ear, my cheek, and my jaw, then he went back to rubbing the tip of his nose against the side of my neck.

“Eon…” I grinned, then quickly stepped on his left foot and pushed him back before I dashed away again.

I faintly heard him curse, and I giggled again as I heard him behind me,walking. Not wanting to make it easy for him to catch me, I decided to hop from tree to tree, sporadically dropping to the ground to continue running.

I was so close to reaching Keleth and Keia—who were both resting under the pink tree—when arms grabbed my waist, and then I was tumbling on the ground, squealing with laughter as Eon and I rolled together until we landed a few spaces away from our companions.

With his hard, warm body cushioning mine, big hands held my waist to keep me on him. Both of us panted, and I trembled with excitement and joy, the thrill of the game drawing another breathless laugh out of me.

His blood-red lips were curved up in a carefree smile, making the thuds against my rib cage stronger. One of his hands reached up to twirl a strand of my blue hair around his finger, playing with it before he gently tugged the strand to his nose and inhaled deeply. His eyes closed, a hum of satisfaction vibrating through his chest, then he laid a soft kiss on the strand.

My chest puffed, and I was just about beaming as I basked in his attention. That he liked my hair made me want to kick my legs back in the air, but I suppressed the urge and lowered my head, nuzzling his bare chest, delighting in his steady heartbeat under me.

“I brought food to eat, because I get hungry quickly.”

“Food?” Eon furrowed his brows.

I reached up and pressed my lips to his quickly, stealing another kiss because his lips were warm and soft and irresistible. Eon tugged on the strand of blue hair in his grasp and took the third kiss with a playful flick of his tongue, a content smile curving the corners of his mouth.

Warm-faced, I nodded and got up from his chest, reaching for the small bag as I sat on my calf muscles. I shuffled my hand inside the bag, aware of Eon watching me. When I found what I was looking for, I grinned and took it out, showing it to Eon with sparkling eyes.

He scrunched his face in disgust.
