“From the garage, Shay. There should be a bucket or two somewhere.”

She blinks with a dead stare. “Umm, I think I gave that stuff away.”

I run my hand through my hair and reach to the back of the vanity, shutting off the water to the sink. “Gave it away?”

She nods. “Yep, all that stuff was in the way, so I just had someone come in and get it out of there.”

Standing up, I know I’m going to regret asking, but I can’t help it. “You gave it all away? Everything in the garage?”

“Sure did. Now there’s plenty of room for my Cadillac,” she tells me proudly.

I left her a few things in the garage to ensure she had a few necessities, despite knowing she’d just call someone to help her whenever she needed. I didn’t want to be accused of leaving her high and dry, even though she couldn’t care less about anything left in the garage. “Call Owen Hansen. He’ll come and fix this.”

“Can’t you?” she asks, slightly panicked.

“I’m not a plumber, and since it’s not flooding the house, like you said it was, it’ll be fine until he can get here to look at it. But a bowl underneath it and use one of the other bathroom sinks until it’s fixed.” With that, I turn on my heels and head for the front door, ready to get the hell out of here.

“Wait!” she hollers behind me, following me right out the door.

I pause when I reach the bottom of the steps but shouldn’t have. As soon as I stop, Shay throws her arms around my shoulders, pink bikini covered boobs pressed against my chest, and slams her lips against mine. I’m so stunned, I just stand there, unable to move until she pulls her mouth away.

Then, she says three words that make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and my balls take a defensive stance and draw up into my body.

“Oh, hi, Hallie!”

Chapter Seven

Hallie

My eyes have to be playing tricks on me.

After spending the entire morning tossing and turning and thinking about Logan and the way he made my body sing just hours ago, I had to get out of my condo. Sleep wasn’t coming to me, so I opted for a little exercise and decided to go for a walk. Even then, my brain kept conjuring up memories. So many memories, I’m walking around wet and achy, desperate for his touch.

Then, I found him standing in front of his ex-wife’s house, her arms thrown around him as she kissed him. Hours ago, those magical lips were plastered to mine. Now, they’re pressed against Shay fucking Johnson’s, the biggest bitch in town and the woman he was once married to.

“Oh, hi, Hallie!”

I didn’t even realize I had stopped and was just standing in the middle of the sidewalk, gawking, until she hollered my name.

Logan tenses, his wide eyes turning my way. They’re dark and full of a mixture of shock and embarrassment as he steps back, shaking off her embrace. “Hallie,” he says, a hint of a smile on those kissable lips.

Unfortunately, the last lips pressed to them were Shay’s.

“I was just…walking.”

“Oh, exercise! So good for you,” Shay states, coming up beside him and slipping her arm around Logan’s waist. Her eyes trail up and down my body, a devious smirk on her lip as she adds, “It will definitely help with…” she points to my lower half “…you know.”

My big ass.

I get it.

Thanks.

“Shay, call the plumber,” Logan states pointedly, trying to put an end to this encounter before Shay decides to comment back.

“Yes, you better call the plumber, Shay. I know how much you support those laying pipe. I’m sure you’ve got a whole list of numbers on speed dial. You know, for plumbing emergencies.” I smile sweetly, as if I didn’t just insinuate Shay is a ho.

Shay’s eyes narrow, and I can sense the claws coming out.
