He cupped my face, his hands cold and sweaty.

“I’m not sure I can take any more surprises this morning,” he whispered.

“This isn’t a surprise.”

“Then what is it?”

I leaned up and kissed his soft lips, taking my time, slow and easy.

“I have to tell you that I—” I took a deep breath and went for it. “I love you. I’ve been in love with you ever since we lived together in that shitty apartment in North Hollywood. Ten years. Ten fucking years, Tay. I should’ve told you ages ago, but?—”

Tate placed a finger to my lips, cutting off any further words.

“You knew, just like I did, that I wasn’t ready to hear them,” Tate acknowledged.

Then he gave me a wide smile. The one that showcased his rare, but irresistible dimples.

The smile that set my heart off running.

“But I am now. And Reed, baby, I’ve never loved anybody but you.”

CHAPTER 28

TATE

Reed loved me.

Me.

A part of me recognized his feelings a long time ago, even though I always chose to ignore them. And I fought like hell against mine.

Until fighting became futile.

And to hear him finally admit what I’d suspected for years?

The power of those three words shook me to my core.

We kissed for ages, feverish, until our mouths were sore and our lungs breathless.

But the interruption of our phones ringing was a reminder that the real world outside this bedroom was calling.

Even though it pissed me off to let him go, I gave him one last kiss and stepped back.

“We’ll continue this later,” Reed assured me.

“I’m holding you to that.”

I was tempted to turn my notifications off, but I couldn’t miss any important calls from my agent.

Reed and I reluctantly got dressed and called Henn back. We reviewed the statement that she prepared. Once the final version was approved, I dialed in Aiden so he and Henn could map out a plan for contacting my corporate brand deals.

An hour later, there was a knock at the front door.

I headed downstairs cautiously, but when I glanced through the peephole, I was relieved to see it was Korry.

“Come on in,” I greeted, ushering him inside.

“How you holding up, Tate?”
