He wandered off, Cary and Grant following.

“Can you believe that?” I asked Reed.

“That our cats just fell in love with Korry? Absolutely. I mean, come on, look at him.”

I pulled Reed into my arms and kissed away his smirk.

“You like playing with fire, huh?”

“I like playing with your dick, is that close enough?” he quipped.

“Show me,” I chuckled and punched my hips forward, making my point.

“We should do like Korry and get unpacked before anything else.”

Reed slid his hands down around to cup my ass, contradicting his words.

“Dirty laundry can wait,” I whispered hoarsely. “Dirty fucking on the other hand?—”

Our luggage went unpacked for two days.

The next night

Tate and I were dressed up in our finest suits, waiting for Henn to pick us up for tonight’s national press event.

The who’s who of Hollywood would be in attendance.

Our first public outing as a couple.

Strangely enough, I was more nervous than Tate. At least, it appeared that way.

He was dressed before me and sitting patiently in the living room while I paced in front of the window, glued to my phone.

“Reed, I love you, but you’re acting like Cary when he got into the cupboard and ate that entire box of cookies. You need to relax. She’ll be here shortly.”

I was a pro at these events, and why was I the only one panicking?

“Are you sure you’re ready for this?” I asked, pivoting to face him.

Instead of replying, Tate stood up, buttoned his navy suit jacket, and walked towards me.

He took my goddamn breath away. Every fucking time.

The effect this man had on me was insane. We met ten years ago but it felt like ten seconds.

“What’s really going on?” Tate asked as he took my phone, threw it on the sofa, and turned back to me. “I’ve already told you a dozen or more times that I’m fine.”

“What if it’s too much? What if the press hates us? I don’t want you to have regrets.”

Tate shook his head and leaned forward to kiss me.

He knew how to distract me, but he couldn’t kiss me forever.

Could he?

“Reed, baby, the only regret I have is not telling you sooner about my feelings. That’s it,” he punctuated his words with another kiss. Some of my nerves calmed, but not all of them. “And the press doesn’t hate us. You just watch, they’re gonna be eating out of the palms of our hands. Hell, they’re already eager for every detail about our relationship.”
