“And what are we going to tell them?”
“I think the love bites speak for themselves,” Tate teased.
“I’m serious.”
“So am I.”
I shook my head. “Well?”
“We tell them the truth. You’re mine, hands off. Simple as that.”
I snorted at his response. “You know, you’re a lot better at this boyfriend stuff than you give yourself credit for. Are you sure this is your first time?”
“Damn right. You popped my relationship cherry.”
I leaned up to kiss him again, but the doorbell rang and both of our phones chimed at the same time.
“That’s our ride,” Tate offered and squeezed my hand before letting go.
He reached for my phone, passed it back to me, and checked his own.
Korry walked into the room, dressed in a grey check suit, complete with a vest. It fit him perfectly, his massive arms and shoulders barely restrained by the expensive looking fabric.
“Looking sharp,” I commented.
“Thanks. I got it before we left the UK, but I was concerned about the fit. Does it look too tight?” he asked.
“Yes,” Tate replied at the same time I said, “No.”
Korry chuckled and pulled a pair of sunglasses out of his pocket. “Are we ready?”
I nodded and turned to Tate. “Last chance to back out?”
“No chance. You’re stuck with me.”
CHAPTER 32
REED
We opened the front door to find Henn and Charlene waiting for us on the other side.
Holding hands.
“Wait, what’s going on here?” I asked, looking at them.
“If you don’t know, Reed, then I have to wonder about your ability to read cues,” Charlene replied with her typical snark.
Henn cleared her throat. “What my girlfriend is trying to say, is that we’re dating. Surprise!”
“For real?” Tate asked, his eyes wide.
“Yes, for real,” Charlene snapped. “I may be sixty, but I still have a social life. A very active one.”
“That’s scary AF,” Tate muttered under his breath.
Charlene used her free hand to gesture at Tate and let him know exactly what she thought of his comment.
“Well, congratulations!” I exclaimed. “When did this happen?”
