Vivian wiped a tear from her eyes, and tried to breathe, but Fredrica had her in stitches.

She couldn’t remember the last time she’d laughed this much.

Walking toward her, Callum smiled at her above the computer screen. He passed her a glass of ice water.

Instead of spending the evening in the tree fort, Callum had suggested they have dinner with Elliot. After stuffing themselves with grilled chicken and broccoli salad, she’d reclined on the couch. Callum had booted up his computer and told her he had a surprise.

Apparently, his sister had been dying to meet her, so Callum set up a video chat.

She had the opportunity to meet Drew and his mate Alyssa as Fredrica carried her phone through Drew’s house, introducing her to various people. She met Mason, who had temporarily stepped into Callum’s role as beta, and Fredrica showed off her own mate, Maddox. He was a big guy, almost as big as Elliot, or at least as far as she could tell through the screen.

Elliot and Callum had found seats in the room as well, and settled with a beer while Fredrica started regaling them all with stories. She started with stories of Callum as a boy and made her way into the long tale about when she met Maddox.

Several times, Fredrica had made Vivian laugh so hard she was in tears.

After passing her the glass, Callum plopped down next to her. He stretched his arm over her shoulders and tugged her against him.

“Aww, look how cute they are?” Fredrica flashed the phone to Maddox.

He clasped his hands. “Oh, just darling.”

“Fuck you,” Callum said. Vivian turned to look at him. Her shock disappearing when she realized he and Maddox were teasing each other. “All these stories are great, but you know, maybe you should get to know Vivian a bit, too.”

“I like the stories.”

“No, he’s right,” Fredrica laughed. “If I’m talking too much, just tell me to shut up.”

“Where did Drew go?” Callum asked.

Fredrica looked around. “Uh, him and Alyssa have disappeared.”

Vivian frowned, but Callum laughed. “Gotcha.”

“What?” Vivian wondered.

Across the room, Elliot arched a brow. “Really, Vivian? You’re that innocent?”

“What? Oh.” She clued in. “Oh!”

Fredrica poured herself a glass of brown liquid from Drew’s bar and joined Maddox on the couch. She set her phone down and tucked herself into Maddox’s side.

“Tell us about you, Vivian.”

On the spot, Vivian froze. “I’m not sure there’s all that much to tell.”

Fredrica was classy and confident. She had a sense of style that was loud but pleasing. With her short platinum hair, and her tattoos and makeup, she was stunning, and embodied an independence Vivian hadn’t dreamed about until Callum.

“That can’t be true.”

Callum nudged her.

“I can crochet.”

“Cool.” Fredrica took a drink. “I tried knitting once, but it was a horrible fail.”

“Yeah,” Vivian agreed. “It can take a lot of patience, and it’s frustrating if it doesn’t turn out well. I can cook, too.”

Next to her, Callum growled. “She wants to be an event planner.”
