“It’s an old biker bar,” Toshi tells me. “It was the place to be at one point when I worked at the college for a while. I have no idea what the appeal was. It’s pretty disgusting, honestly.”

“Maybe it’s been cleaned up since then?”

E.A. shakes his head in front of me. He turns slightly. “It’s still disgusting.”

“Well, hopefully we won’t be in there for long,” Leanne says.

Right. Because we’ll be going to wherever Harlan West is.

I hope they put him in a sewer full of hungry rats.

He deserves to suffer, wherever he is.

“We can always wait outside while E.A. goes in,” Spencer suggests from behind us.

“Now, that wouldn’t be very burden-sharing, would it?” I ask.

Toshi snorts.

Spencer sighs. “No. No, I suppose it would not.”

“Oh, God, is it down there?” Leanne asks, as E.A. comes to a stop.

I push onto my toes and peek over Leanne’s shoulder.

“This is it,” E.A. says, giving us all a wry smile. “Last chance to stay out here.”

It’s down a set of stairs, and it looks shady as hell. Like, if it wasn’t still light out, there’s no way I’d be going down there.

“Welcome to Stab City,” I mutter, as E.A. leads the way down.

“You have no idea how accurate that is,” Toshi murmurs.

“Don’t freak our Omega out,” Spencer warns.

“I didn’t give details,” Toshi protests.

“He didn’t need to,” I say, as I follow Leanne through the door.

There’s a suspicious stain on the floor. I’ve got one foot in the door, and I’m already having to think about cleaning the soles of my boots when we get home later.

A few more steps, and a blond guy with a charming smile approaches, looking way too well dressed to belong in this place. This must be Victor Hayes.

“Leanne. Good to see you again. This must be E.A.”

“Hi,” E.A. greets, sounding vaguely awkward.

“And I’m Echo,” I introduce myself. “This is Toshi, and Spencer.”

“Nice to meet you all. I wasn’t expecting the whole pack, but you should all fit.”

He looks at us as if he’s trying to decide something, before he shrugs.

“We should all fit in what?” I ask, thinking he’s talking about a car.

“In the room,” he says. “Follow me.”

He leads us past a whole load of ancient, ugly booths, with the bar on our other side.
