I can’t help but smile while I pull her to me and kiss her hard.

“Thank you, baby. When did you do this?” I ask in surprise.

She shrugs, “I have actually had that for a while, but I felt determined this year to tell you how I felt. So, I got my mom to send me the picture.”

“Well, I’m glad that you did,” I tell her before placing the frame on my nightstand.

“I know that it’s not much, but it’s extremely hard to shop when everyone in my family has money, so I try to do something that is meaningful instead,” she says. I nod my head in understanding.

“That makes sense. Now open yours,” I tell her.

She opens the box and gasps when she sees the necklace inside.

I had found a diamond necklace with a snowflake on it. As much as she says she dreads coming here every year because of the cold, I know that she really loves it. Her face lights up when she watches the snow. I always notice how peaceful it seems to make her.

“Wow, Gabe. This is beautiful,” she says in awe.

I grab it so that I can put it on her. “I know how much you like to pretend that you hate snow but, don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone that you secretly love it.”

“It’s not just the snow itself; I guess I have some pretty great memories in winter that make it mean so much more to me,” she admits.

I already know what she’s talking about because I have those same memories.

Snowball fights where we laughed and I would tackle her to the ground. Those moments I would get so close to kissing her, but Chase was always there throwing a snowball at my head to ruin the moment.

The first snow of the year and the big snowflakes that would fall to the ground. Aubrey looking beautiful holding her hands out catching them.

She smiles at me like she’s thinking of the same memories as I am.

I can’t hold back from kissing her and then making love to her.

Aubrey

I haven’t stopped smiling all week.

It has all felt like a dream come true and I’m going to wake up and realise that none of it is real.

Walking into my parents’ house, I wonder how they already have their house fully decorated. I wouldn’t doubt that they put my brothers to work this week.

The house smells like fresh apple pie, and I head towards the kitchen where I know that my mother and Theodore are cooking. The three of us like to do the cooking here even though it would be easier to hire someone, but this is something we have always done as a family. Even when we didn’t have much money.

Gabriel joins the rest of my family in the living room where I can hear laughter.

The sound makes me glad that everything worked out and my brothers didn’t keep on being stubborn.

The hardest thing to do was to pretend that I didn’t love Gabe, and I was tired of it. I’m glad that I took that leap or we wouldn’t be where we are today.

This is the start of something great.

We are all sitting in the dining room and there is laughter and smiles all around.

We are all dressed up since that is something our parents like us to do on Christmas.

My mom admires my new necklace and grins at me when I tell her that Gabe bought it for me.

I can’t believe the joy I am feeling from finally expressing what I really want.

At dinner, I decide to tell my parents about my vlog and how being in school wasn’t what I wanted to do. It shouldn’t have surprised me that they were completely supportive. They both smiled at me and told me that they were proud of me.
