I knew better than to underestimate my parents because they love all of their kids. They want what’s best for us. As long as we are happy, they are happy.

My brothers may have the money to send me to school, but I don’t want to go if it’s not something that I really want.

That night I go home with Gabriel. After making love with him, I fall asleep in his arms.

There is nowhere else I would rather be.

Being snowed in with my billionaire was the best thing that ever happened to me.

Chapter Eight

Aubrey

When we got home from Christmas, I thought things would be smooth sailing; but now I’m worried about how to navigate our relationship from here. I’m worried about screwing this up.

Everything was going back to normal, and I went to his penthouse since he didn’t want me to move back in with my parents. The place was huge, but there was nothing it that made it seem like someone actually lived there. It was almost like a show home. I had to put an end to that. I need to add some touches, and Gabriel told me to do whatever I wanted to the place. He wanted me to make this my home too.

He had given me his card to get stuff, but I haven’t used it when I’ve been shopping. I had more than enough money to decorate this place. I ended up putting it back into his wallet. He tried to argue with me about it, but I was stubborn and eventually won in the end.

I liked that he wanted me to be close, though some people might think it’s too fast. This is perfect for me and for us.

My brothers still butt in whenever they can.

I decided to take my food vlog seriously, and I’m glad to have everyone’s support for that.

That’s what I keep myself busy with when I am home by myself.

Gabe is off to work. He spends long days there.

Gabe and my brothers didn’t run a successful company and make the billions they did without putting major hours in.

I decide to make supper for Gabe, knowing he usually comes back around eight. I spend hours making the perfect meal and getting the table set up. After it is all ready, I pamper myself by shaving my legs, trimming, and having a nice hot bath.

I want the start of our lives to be perfect.

When everything is ready, I set the food on the table and open the wine, helping myself to a glass.

Minutes pass, so I decide to scroll social media on my phone.

When I call him, there’s no answer, so I just keep waiting.

Next thing I know, hours have passed and it’s eleven.

I let out a sigh as I don’t bother putting anything away. I change into pyjamas and climb into bed.

After I fall asleep, I feel a dip in the bed and arms come around me.

“Where have you been?” I ask groggily.

“We had lots of people sick, so I needed to cover some shifts,” he tells me with guilt in his tone.

“I tried calling you,” I tell him.

“Sorry, it was busy. I barely had time to look at my phone,” he tells me.

“I guess it’s just something I’ll have to get used to. Being with a big company man,” I tell him with a small smile. Even though it hurts that he didn’t call me to let me know he’d be late.

“It won’t always be like this,” he says with a tired sigh.
